Problem with PLA adhering to new textured build plate

Is there a recommendation for getting better adhesion of PLA to the new textured bed?

Hard to say without telling us what you've already tried...

Wash with dish soap (no additives),hot water, and clean paper towel? IPA/acetone will not remove fingerprint oils, only smear them around thinly.

ya soap and water, maybe there is residue from the building process. I still swear PEI sweats.

I have a Prusa,therefore I research.

Also, make sure your live Z is right. It will be slightly different.

Having trouble getting it to stick to do anything calibration wise, even after washing and then cleaning with acetone. Haven't been able to get a live Z print that looks like it should, it is lumpy on the left side of the build plate and smooth on the right. The rectangle at the end is ridged like it is a extrusion problem, but can't get an extrusion modifier test to stick. I have tried changing the live Z both up and down to no help. I did get my bed leveling file to print and the changes were reduced by 2-5 microns. I may just wait to tackle this build plate issue once I do the MK3S upgrade.

I was having darndest time getting PETG to stick. PLA worked fine. I found my live Z was off .300. Amazing PLA stuck to the plate.

I use my Prusa Textured plate with PETG and do not use any bed treatment. no glue stick no hairspray nor do I use any sort of release treatment like windex For me this how I run and it has been fine for 6 kilos now of PETG
the best prep for your bed is to wash it with warm water and dawn dish soap (in the UK use Fairy liquid) by using a wad of clean kitchen paper towel dampen with warm water and put a dollop of Dawn on the pad and scrub (i do it twice at 90 deg to each other holding the plate by the edge as if it is a phonograph record, rinse under running water and dry with clean paper towel, and keep touching only by the edge... I do this every other day of printing I have not used ISO alcohol of any strength or Acetone either.

then set your live z with this method https://shop.prusa3d.com/forum/assembly-and-first-prints-troubleshooting-f62/life-adjust-z-my-way-t2981.html it is far better than the zig zag method in the firmware I run this with every change of filament rather than relying on old live z numbers

I have had the same issues. i have performed all the cleaning, etc. most of my PLA prints are ok. some of the tall ones have come loose. since i can print with different materials, i now cover my print sheet with kapton tape. it works great. i only add the glue stick for NylonX.

Measured my twp build plates, the smooth is 1.0 mm, the textured 0.67 mm. Didn't realize there was such a difference. Using Jeff's method for doing live adjust of Z made a big difference in my setting with the smooth plate.

Fir tall prints, use a brim and or raft.

I would suspect you live z is off a little. I thought mine was right.

Now i use this: https://shop.prusa3d.com/forum/assembly-and-first-prints-troubleshooting-f62/life-adjust-z-my-way-t2981.html

It truely works better.

Re: Problem with PLA adhering to new textured build plate

If you have two or more build plates, you will have to get the live-z for each one then write down the difference somewhere so that you can adjust when you swap plates over.

I found getting the live-z on a smooth PEI plate is better than the textured plate, the textured plate appears to have surface thickness irregularities or bed levelling is not so accurate due to it being so thin, so once I have my settings, when I change nozzles, I get my live-z right on the thicker smooth PEI plate, then apply the offset when changing to the textured plate and PETG.

Normal people believe that if it ain’t broke, don’t fix it. Engineers believe that if it ain’t broke, it doesn’t have enough features yet.

I highly recommend you look at the above thread and get you live Z adjusted better. Nearly all, including myself, who had difficulty with adherence have found it was partially or entirely due to Live Z. PLA seems to be more forgiving of incorrect live Z settings.

I hear you. I cant get anything stick to my powder coated plate.... PEI Works like a a boss, but this powder coated expensive plate does not work at all. IPA does nothing chancing height does nothing. So disappointed to these plates. Just waste of money. Wasted 2-3 kg plastic for this plate.

Ye, the print surface starts to feel oily after 1-2hours after print has started. I have tried to print large footprint prints that are only 2,2mm tall and has 600mm/2  surface area and even those wont stick. Im printing 20 at a time, and after one un-sticks hell brakes loose. And i am using prusament galaxy black filament and stock profiles etc.

@teemu-j

my PEI bed came already full of oil. even after cleaning it 5 times in a row with 96& alchool it doesn't stick. I can only print PETG successfully on this bed and as soon as the printer is done and loses the temperature, the printed obj unsticks itself from the bed very loudly and very slowly wich is creepy AF during the night.

will everyone with PC sheets PLEASE try washing them with plain dish soap and lots of water , using fresh paper towels  and then drying with more fresh paper towels followed by a heated dry on the heated bed.

99%IPA ( puddled on the sheet ) is fine for touch ups but not for heavy cleaning

Hmmm... I have three Printers running Powder coated prusa build plates and they all print PLA
they are from different batches...

this my Mk2 and a bit... with MMU1 part way through a 4 colour print!

the printer is a mk2 with 12volt mk52 magnetic heatbed and powder coated buildplate!
