Printer crashes when attempting to print/preheat
Out of nowhere (I had just finished unloading a filament after a print) my printer began crashing whenever I selected a filament under preheat or a print under print. It would slightly jolt the Z axis upwards then immediately go black and reset the software. Oddly enough, I noticed later that this glitch also sets the zero height for Z-axis at the current height, so if the nozzle is say 50mm up when it crashes, 50mm becomes the new 0mm. I tried re-flashing firmware (I was always on 3.9) but no luck. Has anyone else encountered anything similar?

Solved (for now); my issue seems to have been a heatbed short circuit that restarted the printer as a failsafe. After unscrewing the heatbed and then testing, the issue miraculously resolved itself and I put it back on, then started printing. Does anyone know what could have caused this and if I should be afraid of it happening again?

How old is the printer?
is the heatbed wiring fraying?
is the insulation on the crimp connectors good?
do you have spiral wrap cable management or braided nylon covering.?
the Spiral wrap sometimes chafes the insulation on the wires it is supposed to protect!

RE: Printer crashes when attempting to print/preheat
My Mk3s which I bought in March 2020 had a problem with the LCD screen which had me down for about 6 weeks. Till I got both boards replaced. Now I have a problem getting it to print. It will start to print but then stops and says thermal runaway. What could be causing this? I am using prusa sliser for my slising.
