Printer broken after firmware update
I tried to update my MK3S to 3.9.0 but it failed and now all I can see is square I've tried it multiple time, even 3.8.0 is failing to flash I tried it with 2 computers and 2 cables log avrdude: Version 6.3-20160220-prusa3d, compiled on Feb 11 2019 at 18:25:11 Copyright (c) 2000-2005 Brian Dean, http://www.bdmicro.com/ Copyright (c) 2007-2014 Joerg Wunsch System wide configuration file is "C:/PROGRA~1/Prusa3D/Slic3rPE/resources\avrdude\avrdude.conf" Using Port : COM6 Using Programmer : wiring Overriding Baud Rate : 115200 AVR Part : ATmega2560 Chip Erase delay : 9000 us PAGEL : PD7 BS2 : PA0 RESET disposition : dedicated RETRY pulse : SCK serial program mode : yes parallel program mode : yes Timeout : 200 StabDelay : 100 CmdexeDelay : 25 SyncLoops : 32 ByteDelay : 0 PollIndex : 3 PollValue : 0x53 Memory Detail : Block Poll Page Polled Memory Type Mode Delay Size Indx Paged Size Size #Pages MinW MaxW ReadBack ----------- ---- ----- e

Wordfence thing doesn't allow me to post the log so here's a pastebin https://pastebin.com/tn4Dd7wR
RE: Printer broken after firmware update
Rolled back to 3.8.0 and everything still works, phew I thought I need a new enisy because the eeprom is toast, turns out the eeprom is fine, still can't upgrade to 3.9.0 though
RE: Printer broken after firmware update
I'm assuming then that rolling back from a failed 'upgrade' is considered reliable and robust, correct?
I'm always cautious of upgrades such as this, having had a few on various devices over the years that resulted in very tedious corrections.
RE: Printer broken after firmware update
I guess I'll stay on 3.8.1 for the foreseeable future. There no new feature that I desperately need from the new firmware anyway, plus the quality is great on 3.8.1.
RE: Printer broken after firmware update
You should still be able to use 3.9.0 (albeit only in English), the part that is failing is writing the language data into the SPI flash.
As long as the first writing/verifying cycle passes, the main firmware has been correctly loaded.

I already tried using it but the printer just stuck at Prusa Research Splash screen, will try flashing it again, in the middle of a 26hr print RN
I tried the firmware on my university's MK3S and it works fine, I think my MB are to be blame
RE: Printer broken after firmware update
Did you try to reset it with "X" after the splash screen hang, or was that how it came up from the flash? It could be hanging in the EEPROM write stage, so a reset or power cycle after the flash should bring it up normally.
How old is your MK3? Any chance it has an older Einsy with the add-on board for the SPI flash memory?

I already hit X but it it still stuck on Prusa Research Screen
My MK3S was upgraded from a MK3, and the MK3 was one of the earier unit.
If I need a new firmware feature, I'll just have to snatch another einsy from the prusa store
