Print fan isn't turning on by gcode

Hi,

my print fan isn't turning on while printing automatically. I tried all options of PrusaSlicer that I've found, but the fan always stays turned off. I can turn it on manually any time and control the speed. The rpm reading looks fine too.

Am I missing a setting in Slicer or is there an option of the MK3S firmware that prevents control of the fan via gcode?

Thank you in advance.

Greetings Daniel

Print fan is definitely controlled by gcode normally.  There are settings in Slicer that can disable the fan though.

Could you save one of your projects (save as...) which will save as a 3mf file with your model and all the settings you are using.  Zip it up and attach it here.  That way people can look to see if there's anything off with the settings you are using.

That's what I was thinking.

I'm uploading the file that I'm printing right now. My intention was a fan speed of 75 % above the 2nd layer and 100 % for detected bridges. Unfortunately the fan hasn't started automatically.

RE: Print fan isn't turning on by gcode

I'd have said those settings would have turned the fan on at 75% from the third layer up.   However if you look at the preview and select Fan Speed you can see its slicing it at 0% all the way up.

I'm not at my printer right now so I cant verify BUT I notice in the Printer Settings>General you have g-code flavour set to Makerware.  If you have a MK3 this should be set to Marlin as the firmware on the Mk3 is Marlin based.  If you do change the gcode flavour to Marlin and slice then  check the preview you can see that the fan is off for the first 2 layers and then on 100% from layer 3 up.  SO it looks like your gcode flavour is the culprit.

I'm not familiar with Makerware gcode but I'd guess the fan speed commands are different.  You may have actually just found a bug/limitation with the slicer preview though as it seems that it cant handle Makerware code or it may just not take the gcode flavour into account.

You were totally right. It's working now. Thank you very much!

- I don't have a clue how I accidentally could have changed the gcode flavour set to Makerware.. :S
