Print Fan Error & print stops

I’ve started to get a Print Fan Error msg and the print stops.  I can resume the print without issue but out happens several times during long prints and trying to run overnight doesn’t work since the print stops & I of course don’t see it till the morning.  The front fan is definitely running during the print so it’s definitely not a bad fan.  I turned off the print check in ‘settings’ and ran a 7 hr print overnight last night & it completed without issue.

anyone know what causes this and how to fix? Also, anything bad about having that print fan fan check function turned off?

RE: Print Fan Error & print stops

the firmware throws an error when the fan speed changes wildly or reads zero. that's what the 3rd monitoring wire is for. your monitoring wire could have snapped or is loose, but that would have zero impact on fan operation.

Go into firmware settings -> Support ->Extruder Info and look at the reported RPM. if it's zero or swinging wildly, your 3rd wire is faulty. you can choose to replace the fan, or just turn off the Fan Check.

I use a high RPM 3rd party fan that doesn't report fan speed correctly and also throws this error. But I've been printing without problems turning Fan Check off. In fact, you can wire up 2-wire fans to the printer by having the check function off.

thx. I'll check that report but I've been printing almost non stop the last 4 days since turning off the print fan check &verifying the fan was still running with zero issues.  Probably about 15 indiviudal pieces covering ~50 hrs of print time and every print is flawless.  After finishing the remaining 10 parts for the sci fi rifle I'm building I might be more willing to muck around with the H/W since I don't need to print anything for several weeks until I complete this rifle ...

The cable bundle coming from the extruded assembly is normally zip tied to the electronics box, if I remember correctly. This should prevent the cables from wiggling out during prints.
