Preheat Error

My MK3 has been leaking a bit around the nozzle and I had to take the hotend apart to clean it up. When I put it back together, something's not right with the heating. It initially starts heating at what seems fairly normal rate. But when it gets up to around 90 degrees, it starts to slow way down and by the time it gets to 130 it basically stops heating and eventually gives a PREHEAT ERROR. It does however pass the self test.

Looking more closely, it seems like the reason that my hotends keep getting gummed up is because PETG is dribbling out from what appears to be the seam between the hotend and the heatsink. It is happening on all three printers to various extents (one is so bad that I have to pause and clean the nozzle multiple times per print).

Re: Preheat Error

USE the info on the E3D website to rebuild the whole hot end or the Method That Joyce posted here a few weeks ago it must be done Meticulously or you can get leaks.

I'm having a hard time finding the links you are referring to. I obviously did a bad job last time I took apart from the hotends so I want to make sure I know how to do it right. Also, what's the best way to completely clean the nozzles once they have gotten caked with PETG? I can't use acetone like I did with ABS.

https://e3d-online.dozuki.com/Guide/V6+Assembly/6?lang=en
or PM Joan the moderator her for her method
There is also a guide on the Prusa website for the V6 hotted each method has minor differences from each other but they all get you to the same place.

If cold pulls etc with cleaning filament fail remove the nozzle and deal with it out of the printer.
heat the nozzle with a hot air gun and use things like the acupuncture needle that came with your printer or manually push filliment through the heated nozzle. soft brass wire brush on the exterior of the nozzle

Re: Preheat Error

Thanks for the help guys. I tore all of the hotends down to the ground, cleaned them out and rebuilt them this time being careful to make sure the nozzle and the heatbreak were both in the right amount. All three printers are back up and running and look like they are no longer leaking at all so far. The one with the preheat error is working right now. I think what the problem probably was is that the alignment of the heatbreak and nozzle was so bad that the heatsink was touching the hotend.
