Power panic recovery after a long time fails
Hi,
I have 2 MK3 printers and both have this strange problem. If the power goes off and comes back within a few minutes, the print recovery works fine. However if it comes back after a while but I don't resume print until the next 4-5 hours the print is not recovered properly. The error that occurs is that print head zero calibration changes and it starts printing somewhere mid air. I haven't seen many people face this problem. It seems like some software bug.

I've experienced this failure ... both with a filament change and with an overnight power blip. Both times the printer went into limbo and never recovered. In my case I've turned off the filament sensor and the printer generally behaves better. But I haven't had a subsequent power fail to test.

I experienced the same thing last night on 3 of my MK3S' our local power company had an issue and power was out for 2 hours. It then came back for 5 seconds and died again for a further 45 minutes. Once restored I got the message on all 3 printers to recover form the power outage and I selected yes to recover, and all heated up and and started printing only to find it printed about 3-4 layers to high, in mid air. Had to cancel the print and the restart the 12 hour prints. Same happened exactly the same on all 3 machines, and all 3 machines where running the same model. SO must be a bug of sorts? Our power supply company has had soem issues lately and I was hoping this would be my saving grace , but it doesn't seem to be after all

Just a side suggestion: get yourself an UPS, it will save you tons of filament and also tons of your nerves...
Cheap 300-500W UPS is enough. Remove original battery and connect 40Ah(or more) car battery (it's waaaay cheaper than gel battery). Power outage is then possible for hours and printer will still work. I never printed anything without printer being connected to UPS.
For those who think that car battery is not suitable for UPS: True. BUT... i have UPS for my central heating system (oil based). It's 1000VA model with two car batteries. First set lasted whole 8 years (they were new bought when installed). My friend has 1500VA ups, running on three 12V 56Ah car batteries (36V). 7 years old and still running...
