Power issues with printer - need help

hi everyone,

so i borrowed a Prusa i3 mk3 from my brother the other day.

today i wanted to power it on for the first time, but there is nothing happening. so i broke out the multimeter and now i am a bit confused.

here you can see that i do not have power across the main power input terminals on the PSU

but when i disconnect the L wire from the power panic board test then i see voltage

for the test i disconnected the rocker switch.

has anybody got an idea what could be the problem here?

thank you for your help

Support

I would definitely contact support.  You may have a bad PSU.

i did fear that might be the case.

also i just checked, i do not have the Chat option when i open the site - even with multiple browser, not sure why this is happening

edit: found the chat, it is just in the shop

power panic board

with the help of support  i was able to narrow the issue down to the power panic  board.

unfortunately there are no spare  parts for it.

does someone know, if i could just skip the board? what does it actually do?

the power panic board, monitors the incoming power for problems, and triggers a self protection action in the printer to try and save the current position data before power failure, in the hopes that the printer can resume printing when power is restored.

unfortunately it is not fool proof...

I use a UPS in preference...

you could bypass the power panic board and have a working printer without power panic, quite quickly!

Power panic boards are available on Aliexpress.
I have no idea how good they are
