OctoPi and LA issue fixed?

Hey guys

just wanted to ask you very quick, if the stuttering issue when printing over OctoPi with Linear Advance on got fixed?
Curious because I want to print over Octoprint and USB.

Re: OctoPi and LA issue fixed?

I have been using 3.2 RC2 for a while now w/ Octoprint via USB and I have LA enabled. All looks good and LA does make a difference.

Very nice!
So no stuttering issue? How much have you been printing? 🙂

Re: OctoPi and LA issue fixed?

Ditto. Running 3.2.0 alpha with LA via Octoprint and no problems

Re: OctoPi and LA issue fixed?

I was under the impression that problems were more prevalent using a pi Zero W due to the weaker processor. Has it similarly improved with the latest firmware or is it still recommended to spring for a more robust pi 3+?

Is USB still the way to go instead of the GPIO connection? (I seem to recall problems with that as well)

Re: OctoPi and LA issue fixed?

I believe the Pi Zero attached directly to the Einsy still uses serial comms, so it really is of no benefit.

And I would never use a Pi Zero and expect it to work as reliably as a faster 4 core version.

I am using Pi Zero W attached directly to Einsy and it works beautifully, no problems so far.

Re: OctoPi and LA issue fixed?

I played with my Zero over the weekend, too. As far as printing goes it really prints without any problems, but overall it's...well, no so good:
- first of all it takes ages to acces it at power-up.
- it can happen that if i try to connect with phone it won't connect, i've had occasions where whole system crashed and rebooted.
- as camera goes, having resolution more than 640x480 results more in random slidewhos rather than video.

I have updated raspberry and octoprint to latest.

I wonder ---i have old Rpi2 at home - will be any better/faster? Or should i buy latest Pi in order to work flawlessly?

RPi2 will be faster than Zero but has no built in Wi-Fi so you will need an adapter. I highly recommend the newest RPi 3 B+, it's much faster than my Pi 2 and the build-in Wi-Fi is better than on standard Pi 3.

If you try and take a cat apart to see how it works, the first thing you have on your hands is a nonworking cat.

well, i have switch 2 metres from my printer, so i'd rather connect Rpi with cable, but zero doesn't have this option...
OK, i will try Pi2 first and see, thanks..

BTW...will SD card from zero work in rpi?
