Nozzle crashes into 3D print

Hello,

I am using a PRUSA i3 MK3 and recently the printer head crashed into a couple of my 3D prints.

The first time I was printing a catapult using the PLA included with the printer.

I thought I fixed the problem when using a different infill pattern (I previously used honeycomb).

It printed fine using both raster and gyroid.

Recently (today) the printer crashed into another 3D print, 3h left on a 16h print :(.

This print was made using Prusament PETG and a raster pattern (25% infill).

The nozzle crashed so hard into the print that the magnetic bed got detached.

FYI The printer was running in silent mode.

Can someone please tell how to fix this?

RE: Nozzle crashes into 3D print

Judging by where in the print it is failing, I suspect an electronics problem. That or maybe a subtle power line problem (power line is failing or glitching mid-print).

In any case, do you have a peak reading voltage meter (DMM) ??  One with MIN/MAX readings? I'd use that attached to the 24v rail and watch what the PS is doing during all this.
