No heat from print bed or hot end (thermisters ok, just no heat!)

Had a weird thing happen today.  My SD card original to the prusa was showing signs of aging.  Very slow to load files from the SD, but i decided to try and continue to use it as I was for the last two or so months.

Today after being heated up for a print, the printer malfunctions.  It makes terrible noises for a second right before it's about to print and just keeps doing that untill I turned it off.  I've done the following:

  1. Checked all fuses, all are ok
  2. checked for power at the power supply for all 4 wires, all are ok
  3. checked for power at the board, all wires are ok
  4. tightened all connectors on board and power supply
  5. updated printer firmware to latest (3.11?)
  6. unplugged power loss detection connector
  7. formatted old SD card and did a surface test, it was bad.
  8. replaced old SD card, reads all files (quickly) again, but not fixed

Any other things I could try?  It seems like data corruption on the SD card could have caused some sort of a problem.  So rare to come across a software problem that causes a hardware problem though, so I'm wondering what else there is to check.

you can also try a factory reset

hey sorry for the confusion!  The noises only happened once when the printer was jammed.  It sounded like the sound the stepper motors make when they're hitting the end stops and keep going, like when you are leveling the z axis and it's hitting the limit of travel at the top.

A very strange thing though is that I was reading online everywhere and it was mentioned somewhere that I should try a PID calibration.  I am doing so right now and the hot end is working again.  It seems it'll have to go through that process before I know if the heat bed will work again.  Fingers crossed!

ok now I have the hot end working, but the heat bed still does not work.   I an trying the "setup wizzard", and the fans check out ok.  When it gets to checking the axis, they don't move at all.  X, Y, Z & E all have no movement.  I tried swapping all of the cables around but each motor doesn't work.  The motors have a tiny shake or vibration when they're supposed to be moving but they never move.

So as of right now it seems the board has some issue.  I'll try reinstalling the firmware or something.

The only things that work right now are the fans and hot end.

Thanks!  I tried that and the x axis is actually moving this time.  However, the x axis is moving so slow that it will take perhaps hours to reach the left hand (negative) limit.  Is this normal for the new firmware version?  I saw somewhere about a 20 minute calibration after reset but i'm sure that is the entire process, and not the time to move just one axes for the test?

IT WORKS!!!

I somehow messed up the reset the first time, I didn't know I had to scroll down in the menu and click all data.

After doing it properly it works like new!!!!

Thank you!
