Newest firmware update fails at the last step in Prusa Slicer 2.2 - Reboot

I flashed my Mk3S with the latest firmware (timeline December 2020) - and it flashes (write), then the verify phase (read) - but it doesn't wait long enough for the reboot after the verify phase - so Prusa slicer 2.2 reports that the flash operation failed due to lack of USB(com4) connectivity.

After trying three times, same result - I checked the firmware version on the printer display - and it appears as though the new firmware is in place.  Not sure how to verify that I'm getting the artifact reduction improvements I expected - tried a few pre-update GCODES and every single defect is still present (even blobs at knife edges).    Is the new firmware there, as is being reported - or do I need to wait for a Prusa Slicer 2.2. update to wait for the reboot to finish the job.

I would perform a factory reset, use a different USB cable and try to reflash the firmware. Normally no error message should appear. Best is to use the latest version of the PS. But after the factory reset you have to recalibrate because all the presets will be erased from the eeprom.

Statt zu klagen, dass wir nicht alles haben, was wir wollen, sollten wir lieber dankbar sein, dass wir nicht alles bekommen, was wir verdienen.

@karl-herbert

Thanks.  I think I'm using the latest slicer already, and thank you for the link.   It isn't clear how to factory reset - so I'm hoping that is an option on the screen on the printer.
