mk3s returning to home position after each layer
I am noticing on my current print my mk3s is returning to home position after each layer, and then resuming the print.
The model was sliced with PRUSASlicer 2.5.2
I am using Octoprint, but have disabled TimeLapse.
I am also using ArcWelder (but don't see an option that would impact this).
Any suggestions as to where I might look to figure out why this is happening?
RE: mk3s returning to home position after each layer
Octolapse could do that when you define a point for stabilization. Are you sure Octolapse plugin is deactivated?
RE: mk3s returning to home position after each layer
Thank you.
I do have the Octolapse plug in installed, but am not using it and it is disabled.
I found these settings in the Slicer,
Before layer G-Code change:
;BEFORE_LAYER_CHANG
EG92 E0.0
;[layer_z]
After layer G-Code change:
;AFTER_LAYER_CHANGE
;[layer_z]
But looked them up and they seem be benign.
My print has finished, I need to several more of the same model. I will try not using Arc Welder next, and after that if it didn't solve the issue try uninstalling Octolapse.
RE: mk3s returning to home position after each layer
Well, I tried it without printing the Arc Welder version, and also after removing the Octolapse plug-in and the problem continues ??

Perhaps something in you g-code startcodes for you printer in PrusaSlicer? You could try to add a new printer in PrusaSlicer using the default profile for your printer. Try printing with the new profile. If the problem disappears, you you could compare the new profile with the old profile, as described in this thread: https://forum.prusa3d.com/forum/original-prusa-i3-mk3s-mk3-hardware-firmware-and-software-help/prusaslic3r-how-to-compare-printer-profiles/
RE: mk3s returning to home position after each layer
Thanks very much, but I've decided to let it ride for a while.
Although its slowing down my print a bit I'm sure I'll never recover the time I've already lost trying to figure this out.
RE: mk3s returning to home position after each layer
I hadn't noticed but on the printer's lcd screen it was saying something about crash detected - after a bunch of fiddling I decided to turn crash protection off - and it seems to be working fine. Later, when my current print finishes, I will check the belts.
