MK3S hot end replacement fail

I replaced the hot end on an MK3S.  Everythings seems fine, self-test, calibration, loading filament.  When I run the first-layer calibration the head seems to move correctly, but no filament is fed.  It really was spewing filament on the load.  What to check/adjust?  TIA.

Try loading the filament manually (activate automatic loading). If it does not run through, either the nozzle is clogged or the filament is attached to the PTFE or the heatbreak. It could also be that the idler's spring pressure is too low.

I don't understand "loading the filament manually (activate automatic loading)."  Is there a different filament load from the menu item "load filament?"  When I use the menu item, filament comes pouring out of the nozzle.  That' is what is confusing.  It is almost like the print job turns off the feed.   I'll check what you suggested, but it seems strange that filament comes out at one point and not another.

I'm a newbie and it turns out I needed to fine adjust the Z axis.  Exturder was being blocked by the heat bed.  Duh...

Hi Stellr,
when you start the printer, does it test nine points on the heatbed 3 rows of 3 test points?, or does it test 49 points (7 rows of 7 tests? )
if you are only testing 9 points (3x3 Mesh Bed Levelling) it would be beneficial to switch to 7x7 mesh bed levelling using the LCD  Menu option.

regards Joan.

Yes, only the 9 points.  I'll take a look at the 7x7.  I read somewhere that the fine tuning of the axis is in the users hands and after I did a fine tuning the filament started laying down.
