Melting Height Probe
Hello dear forum,
When printing ABS and when trying to retain the heat and vapors, the area around the height probe softens and can cause the following print to cal with an incorrect height.
I'm considering replacing this part with something a little more heat resistant, but I'm wondering if others have encountered issues with printing things in ABS. I don't have many problems unless it is a large print and requires the assistance of a closed chamber's insulation.
If you have encountered problems with the z-probe holder melting and causing crashes later in the print or wonky height on the following print, let me know what you tried to do to solve it. Once I come up with a solution that works for my use cases, or implement an idea presented here, I'll happily update this post.
RE: Melting Height Probe
Lots of people yes. Those that print high temp materials anyway. There are several threads about it and also redesigned parts of the extruder available on thingiverse. Where the most critical parts are separated out so they can be printed in a high temp plastic. For example https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:3645975
there are more too.
