MAINTENANCE - How to know when and what to replace
I am a totally new user here, so this question may have been answered many times.
I am using the factory build verison of the i3 MK3S+ and only printing with PLA for now as I learn to use the machine and the software. Everything is working properly right now.
I understand that, eventually, I will need to replace the brass nozzle, and perhaps the the printing plate as well.
How will I know when those times come. What do I watch for as indicators that replacement is needed?

Hello,
nozzle wear is a continuous process and so there is no clear limit when to consider a nozzle to be worn.
If you only print PLA for now, i would not think about nozzle wear. You should be able to print many PLA spools with one brass nozzle.
Printing "glow in the dark" or fiber reinforced materials require a hardened nozzle!
Other maintenance:
- Grease the linear rods with super tiny amounts of the Prusa grease. There has to be a thin film of grease always on the rods.
Redistribute the grease that is pushed aside with your finger from time to time. The small tube of Prusa grease may last a year or so. - Do not grease the threaded Z-rods. It is not recommended.
- Print the "Tension Meter for the GT2 belts of i3 MK3S+ or Prusa MINI+" from Prusament PETG. It is the best tool to get the belt tension right.
Correct belt tension is one of the most important things in my opinion.

Basically, thats it to keep the machine running for a long time without serious damages 😀

Thank you, that is just exactly the info I needed. I know machines require care to work properly, and I want to be sure this one continues to do so.
