Lost calibration settings for factory assembled

Hi,

we've somehow lost the calibration settings on our factory assembled i3 mk3 (delivered Jun 2021). We can't seem to remove the metal sheet as part of the recalibration process (maybe it's glued on). How do we recover the settings or recalibrate?

Thanks,

Ian and Stu

You will probably have to do a full reset and run all the calibrations from scratch but Prusa support may be able to shortcut the process so contact them direct.  This is a user forum, we look forward to hearing more from you soon.

For support: Log into your Eshop account, navigate to support and live chat is at bottom right in most browsers. If not you may need to disable your ad-blocker temporarily.

Cheerio,

Thanks,

I was trying to do the calibration wizard but didn't understand the bit about removing the steel sheet. The sheet that comes attached seems to be solidly fixed in place. So I attached a piece of paper as suggested but it fails to find what it's looking for. I'll try the live support option but we're in Australia.

Thank,

Ian and Stu

build plate removal

Hi Ian and Stu,

the Buildplate is held in place by Strong Magnets IF it is in place you will not be able to see any retaining screws on the top of the heatbed.

at the front of the heatbed there should be two protruding pieces of Heatbed, with thumb prints on them, about 30mm in from the sides of the heatbed, these parts are about 4mm thick
to the outside of these parts there should be a thin panel about 0.75 to  1mm thick overhanging the heatbed.

You put your thumbs on the thumbprints, and your index fingers under the thin plate, and lever the edges of the thin plate upwards.

this should loosen the magnetic pull on the build plate.

remove the build plate and continue with the calibration wizard

Once the build plate is removed the surface of the heatbed should be visible, with warnings not to print on that surface, and to beware the surface can be hot.... and you should also see the heatbed mounting screws...

this means that the small sense pads in the heatbed surface, will be exposed and ready for the XYZ calibration process to check whether the assembly is good...

Please follow the instructions and if you are asked to press a switch to continue, you press the LCD Control knob...

the X button is a reset button...

regards Joan
