Hotend is not heated up (Prusa i3 MK3)

Hi,

I had to disassemble the extruder to remove a piece of filament from the PET tube. After reassembly the hotend does not heat up. When I try "Preheat" the side fan starts, the screen shows "Orginal Prusa ....", the fan turns off again. The temperature is displayed on the screen nozzle and bed 21 °.

When I try to change the temperature via Settings - Temerature - Nozzle- the printer always reboots and the screen displays "Orginal Prusa ....". when I try to change the temperature via Settings - Temerature - Nozzle- the printer always reboots and the screen displays "Orginal Prusa ....".

Can someone help me please. Thank you.

Good evening Jean,

It sounds like your heater wires are short circuiting. which can cause your printer to reboot.

Hi Joan,

Thanks for the quick reply.
What can I do now. Do I have to replace the heater completely?

Regards Tom

If you can see the wires touching each other, try and ease them apart gently. hopefully they short circuit will disappear, if so, you can resume printing.

If that doesn't work, I Would consider ordering two heaters and two thermistors. thermistors are easily damaged, so you will have spares incase you break the existing thermistor and spares for next time you have a problem...

another option, may be to consider a Revo6 hot end...

Hello Joan,

Thank you very much for your answer. The heater wires do indeed have a short. I think the resistance should be 14.4 Ohms. I have ordered two new heaters (24V 40W).

With kind regards,

Tom
