Hotend cooler too close to surface

I've been printing with the MK3 for about a month now - I'm very happy about the printer generally - I've had very few issues with it compared to other printers I've used.

When I assembled it, I over-tightened the air-vent for the extruder so I had to print another (this is why I love 3D printing - I 3D print new printer(parts)). I used the Prusa PLA that came with the printer - so it's not exactly the best for high heat, but I figured it was far enough away from the hotend to not be that warm. And for about a month it's been doing great.

But lately I've heard scrabing. The other day, it killed a print (crash) because the fan actually HIT the top of the the object and blocked movement - it was a 10+ hour print that failed in the last 30 minutes of the print. I've tightened the fan, it will NOT move, but it still seems too close. Here's an image of a first layer print that fails because the fan is hitting the printed parts when the carriage moves.

Has anyone had similar issues and found a solution? I'm wondering if the fan has "bent" a bit and that I need to print another in a better material?

Use abs for that part. Pla is the wrong choice because it melts

stahlfabrik is correct. PLA is no use here, ABS is required at least. Even that has been seen to droop after a while.

Yeah, cooling nozzle MUST be at least PETG. Best would be Nylon or PC.
