Heating Cartridge Replacement Causing Selftest Error
Hello all, MK3 Kit user here.
Recently when I was replacing a nozzle tip I torqued the hotend too hard and wound up snapping the wires on both the heater cartridge and the thermistor. I was able to purchase replacements for both items from Amazon. Here are the specific items: Heater Cartridge and Thermistor.
I attempted to reassemble the items, but evidently something is not working properly. When I run the selftest and the printer checks the hotend, I get the error message,
Selftest error !
Please check :
Heater/Thermistor
Not connected
I've tried heating the hotend manually, but if I touch the hotend, I can't feel it growing any warmer, so I'm assuming something is wrong with the heater cartridge. To my knowledge, I've wired it correctly and connected it to the proper slot on the Einsy board. I've even tried swapping the wire positions just in case they were reversed.
Any clue as to what I'm doing wrong? Did I order the wrong items? I've attached relevant photos. Thanks for the aid in advance!

Many of us never look at photos posted on 3rd party sites. Too many trash sites planting trojans these days.
What's the resistance of these parts at room temperature?

@tim-m30
I do not have any equipment for checking resistance unfortunately.
Did a little more testing and the display shows current temp, so assuming that the thermistor is functional. I set the printer to preheat and the heatbed temp rose, but the hotend remained at ~ 22°, 23°.

The implication is the thermistor is okay, but the heater isn't. Check the wiring, that the heater is plugged in properly.
The only way to understand what is happening is with a DMM (digital multi-meter). You need to check for continuity in the heater wire and the voltage coming out of the Einsy board driver.
If the power was on and the heater was heating when you broke the wires, there is a very small chance you popped fuse F2, and a better chance you blew the Einsy nozzle heater driver FET.
You can try replacing the fuse...

I do think you should add an inexpensive DMM to your test kit.
3D printers take quite a bit of TLC, and broken wires are not uncommon.
