Have drafts ever actually caused MINTEMP BED errors?

I recently started getting MINTEMP BED errors and I guess I'm hoping that there's some answer beyond replacing hardware. My printer is in basement that's cool and does get a bit drafty when the A/C is cranking (it's been super hot the last few days). As prusa suggests, I've tried wiggling thermistor cable attached to the bed, moving the bed back and forth, etc. and I can't get the error to trigger myself. I can't think of anything that would've damaged the cable, either. The errors trigger every several hours whether I'm printing or not.

So the question is, is the draft theory a plausible cause of this--even if it isn't particularly egregious--and if not, why can't I reproduce the error by moving the cable around? Perhaps the thermistor is just going bad?

I don't think so unless it is exceptionally cold.  It is usually a broken or shorted thermistor wire.

MINTEMP errors are commonst in winter, especially with printers in unheated workshops.

If that AC output air is below 10 celsius then it could cause problems...  I would expect you to have warping problems too, especially with higher melting point filaments.

Sounds like the wiring and thermistor are OK from your testing. Try just warming the bed up with a hot air gun or hairdryer before firing the printer up. If the MINTEMP errors only occur when it's cold, there's your answer. I like Joan's story about one user who places a hot cup of coffee or tea next to the lowered extruder on cold morning to help the poor thing warm up past MINTEMP for the nozzle. Use a mug with a large bottom surface area and chitchat with the printer over a cup before starting.

Prusa offers good support on the subject of "Mintemp error": https://help.prusa3d.com/en/article/mintemp-and-mintemp-bed_2169

Either you have strong temperature fluctuations around the printer or there is a fault with the heating element or thermistor.
