Firmware 3.12 thermal model & nozzle change

The 3.12 release notes say

Please re-run the temp model calibration to ensure the best performance and minimize the temp model warnings, when you change:

  • the nozzle
  • ...

Really? Every nozzle change? Or are some changes ok but others are likely to require recalibration?

What about:

  • Change to the same nozzle size and material and brand (e.g. Original Prusa .4 to a new Original Prusa .4)
  • Change to the same nozzle size and material but a different brand (e.g. Prusa .4 to a standard E3D .4)
  • Change to a different nozzle size, but the same material and brand (e.g. E3D .4 brass to .6 brass)
  • Change to the same nozzle size and brand, but a different material (e.g. E3D .4 brass to .4 nickel plated copper, or stainless steel, or hardened steel)

RE: Firmware 3.12 thermal model & nozzle change

Yeah, that seems excessive. For what it's worth. I have changed nozzles now several times (tungsten carbide, different sizes), and haven't seen any issues. Didn't even realize they recommended redoing it. If that were necessary, I'd disable it in a heartbeat.

I mean, I'm all for safety features but it's got to be reasonable.  I've changed nozzles a thousand times and have never set the house on fire. The way this has been implemented feels like leaving a lot to be desired. No support for Revo on the Mk3S. On the Mini, I have to manually preheat the nozzle before I can load filament after a restart to avoid triggering an error, and I can't even disable it. (Loading, unloading, printing… everything's perfectly fine for days as long as I don't restart the printer)
