Einsy crashing...too hot?

I'm testing an enclosure which seems to cause my printer to crash during printing. The enclosure is only about 35C (95F) which I assumed would not harm the einsy but I can absolutely corelate the crashes with the enclosure. Is there something I need to do in order to ensure the einsy is cool enough?

What do you mean by crashing? Is the printer running away too fast and crashing into the walls?

ps: whenever my printer does that I give it a time-out.

Sorry, I should have clarified. It will stop mid print, display something regarding "crash" on the screen, then re-home and start printing again.

RE: Einsy crashing...too hot?

My first guess would be sticky bearings. Usually bearings were installed without proper lubrication. Within a few weeks they begin to seize.

Second guess is the nozzle is contacting the part, causing the same sort of stall.  Part warp is common, though that is what an enclosure is suppose to help with. This usually has artifacts: a melted spot on the part where the nozzle landed.

Last guess is something in the Einsy is complaining of the heat - you may want to check the temperature data on the LCD menu. An ambient reading above 50c could be problematic (this is the temp inside the Einsy case). A fan to cool the Einsy would be practical.

I did the mizzumo bearing and rod modification, so I think those are good. The part warp is interesting...I did notice some warp on my last part. I wonder if there were impacts to the nozzle. I'll keep testing, thank you for the suggestions!

@farina

The Einsy runs stable even at 50 degrees C. at my printer (with enclosure). 35degrees C.should normally not cause any problems. If it does, it is possible that a damaged solder joint or connection plug could cause problems. I equipped the stepper motor drivers with heat sinks and attached a Noctua fan to the case (Zaribo).

What is the mizzomo bearing mod?  Do you mean Misumi Rods and Bearings?  The cleaning and lubrication BEFORE installation is just as important with good bearings - probably more so since they will have a tighter tolerance (if you bought the better bearings and rods).

@karl-herbert

With 35c air around the Einsy case, the internal temps will be much higher. Good to know that 50c air when using a good fan works. But have you ever looked into the temp rating of the low esr caps on the Einsy board?

I did not change anything on the capacitors. Inside the Einsy case I measure a maximum ambient temperature of about 60 to 65 degrees C. (measured with an external temperature sensor via Raspi). The Einsy is now 3 years in operation and I would like it to last that long again.
Do you think that a cooling of the capacitors is necessary?

No - I was thinking there were a couple of caps that had a known history of failing due to heat - but I might be confusing topics - old power supplies failing inside enclosures. I thought some of the caps were rated 85c or less. I looked at the parts list for the 1.1 board, all caps including the aluminum electrolytics are rated 105c. It might have been the Einsy FETs having issues, and you've already added heatsinks.

I installed the power supply externally anyway. I think that the einsy and the raspi can cope with the max. 50 degrees C. enclosure temp.
But if you could improve something, why not.
