ColorPrint website

It would be really nice if the instructions on the ColorPrint website would make clear whether the color change occurs at the start or end of the specified layer.

When someone asks you if you're a god, you say, "YES!"

Colour change starts at the beginning of the chosen layer

I use Slic3r 1.42.0 beta which includes a colour change facility built in.

Re: ColorPrint website

I used it for the first time last night and also made the wrong assumption. It was only a simple name plate so no big deal and got it right the second attempt (chose the next layer). However Once slight concern is that after the question is asked about correct filament loaded prior to resuming the print, it insists on extruding a tiny bit more, which could of ruined the print. Luckily I managed to grab it with the tweezers before it resumed printing. This was done whilst the print head was making its way back to position. Why does it do that, and can it be stopped?

Hi Texy,

the trick is to resist pulling the worm cast off the extruder, instead just hold on to it, click the button, and the extruder squirts the final prime out, then moves off to continuethe print, and you are left holding ALL of the waste...

Yeah, but, from memory, and I could be wrong on this, the final extrusion prior to printing is done at the same time that the head moves back into position........

Re: ColorPrint website

It does. So, when it squirts out the coil and asks if the filament is good I put my needle nosed pliers on the coil of filament and press yes with my other hand. The head will squirt out that last cm or so which USUALLY gets grabbed by the coil tail. If not my pliers are ready to make a grab. The trick is anchoring the coil so it doesn't get blown to the side by an enthusiastic fan.

if you are holding the wormcast when you push the button to continue, the last squirt is still attached to it, and pulls off the extruder as the extruder reverts to the printing area.
