Color change without wiping

Hi, I'd like to change colors without any wiping. I'm using Slic3r PR 1.41.2. Unfortunately, when I have a multipart-multicolor print and I uncheck the wipe tower option, the gcode slic3r generates doesn't actually do a color change correctly.

Let's say I'm printing in 2 colors. When I start, I'm printing in color 1, then when it begins printing the color 2, instead of retracting color 1, it just leaves filament 1 in the print head and then tries to advance color 2, which of course fails. Is there any way to accomplish what I want in the current software?

Also, is there a way to minimize the size of the wipe tower? Using a second wipe object ( wipe into this object is selected) doesn't seem to change the size of the wipe tower in any way.

Thanks!

Re: Color change without wiping

Wipe into object makes the wipe tower much less dense.. . But same size

I try to make safe suggestions,You should understand the context and ensure you are happy that they are safe before attempting to apply my suggestions, what you do, is YOUR responsibility. Location Halifax UK
