Cannot connect via USB

I've suddenly lost the ability to connect to the printer via USB. My Octoprint appears to have lost communication via the port. I still can open it through Wifi but I doesn't connect to my MK3S. Tried to connect to the Einsy using a cord and Pronterface. When I hit connect it appears to do something because the printer resets, but I cannot execute any command or move any motor.

I don't want to reflash because my extruder has a 3:1 ratio and I won't be able to set the e-steps if I still cannot communicate after flashing.

Time for a new Einsy board? Have anybody had a similar problem?

RE: Cannot connect via USB

It might just be a loose connection, pull and reinsert the connectors.  If that doesn't help try using different cables.

Cannot reflash? Uh ho

You need a solution to your 3:1 problem if re-flashing is not possible....  but you should be able to re-flash and then re-apply the changes you made afterwards - if not, sounds like a one-way change (not a good thing generally)

RE: Cannot connect via USB

Got it working. All apparently was caused by the update to Python 3 using the Raspberry pi imager and burning the whole thing from scratch. Tried this way multiple times and every upgrade resulted in losing connectivity.

Finally, upgraded using SSH (Putty) and running the upgrade script manually to go from Python 2 to 3  and got it to work again.
