Boot freeze after firmware upgrade

I recently noticed a message on my MK3 (upgraded to MK3S with kit): "MK3 firmware on MK3S printer." It wasn't stopping anything, so I didn't do anything until today. I used PrusaSlicer to upgrade the firmware to the current version for MK3S (3.10.0), which appeared to go flawlessly. After reporting success, the printer rebooted, flashed the 3 dots and...nothing.  It's stuck on the "Original Prusa i3MK3" boot screen.

I've tried:

  1. Downgrading to the 3.10.0 firmware for the MK3.
  2. Re-installing the MK3S firmware.
  3. Shutting the printer off for 30+ sec and rebooting.
  4. Removing PrusaSlicer and the firmware from my Mac, re-downloading a fresh copy, installing, rebooting (first Mac, then printer) and then re-installing.

But no change in symptoms. It still boots fine and then stays stuck on the boot screen.  Re-flashes all appear totally successful from the PrusaSlicer side and I do see the LCD screen show the progress from 1 to 100% for both the upload and verify processes.  It's only when booting to try the firmware on it's own that the printer has problems.  There hasn't been an SD card inserted throughout the process.

Any suggestions gratefully received!

I did have this happen once.  I just reflashed backward to the old firmware and then flashed the update again.

Thanks, Chuck, but as I mentioned in the original post, I'd already tried that and it didn't work.

UB_Glade, I appreciate the notice. I also opened a ticket with Prusa support. They recommended that I restart using the button on the einsy rambo case rather than the front panel, then revert to factory default (click 'X' button on front panel followed by press-and-hold of main button), then try reflashing.  That finally fixed the problem and I was able to downgrade to the previous version of the firmware.  I hope this helps you, too!

@matthewm1970

I am glad you got it working.  It took me several times to get the firmware to update without the blank screen.  Next time, I will try a downgrade.
