Bed is not heating anymore

Hi,

Got my MK3S (my 1st printer ever) about three weeks ago. I just started to print out the parts for the new IKEA Lack Enclosure for MMU2 as of the latest blog post. First print (spool holders) was completed after 23h40m. I let everything cool down, detached the printed parts and started next 23h print. Everything started well but the print stopped after 30min. The display showed BED TEMPERATURE OUTRUNNING or similar. What happened is the bed temp cooled down. I have reset the system and started over but the bed would not heat anymore.

For one week I am printing in an enclosure V1 but with open doors. Outside temp is 25c, inside 30c. The PSU is placed outside the enclosure. Nevertheless it felt quite warm so I let everything cool down for an hour. Next try same result - bed does not heat, bed LED (where the cables are connected) stays off.

Nozzle is heating, only bed is not heating.

What can I do to fix the problem?

If the bed LED did light up - even briefly, I would suspect the bed thermistor or its cabling based on your partial error message reported. However, you say the LED does not light up at all.

Check the bed heating system step by step from power source to bed...

- Power cables on EINSY for bed power in and bed power out secure?

- bed fuse blown?

- Bed cable connection at bed end secure? Not loose, not shorted across with a bolt or nut that moved?

- Bed heater cabling break in wire?

- Finally is bed itself ok? How many ohms does it read?

Somewhere along this line you will find the problem

Just unloaded the filament. Display says: BED PREHEAT ERROR. Will go through your checklist tomorrow. Thx a lot for your quick response.

Great checklist.  Mine had this problem: Bed heater cabling break in the wire.  I spliced the wires and shrink wrapped them.

Found the problem - and solved it :-).

I installed plug connections between the PSU (outside enclosure) and wiring coming directly from the printer. This way I can move everything easily and have only to plug/unplug three twisted wire pairs.

One of those plugs (the one for the heating bed) had a bad connection. It seemed that a plastic part inside the connector degraded and caused an insulation (should not have bought the cheapest connectors available). Switched the plug, now everything is running fine again.
