Any experience with Baud 1MBit/s

Heyho,

since a few weeks (or month) my MK3S started to stop shorty during the prints. It's not really deterministic, but my intention is, that it mostly happens during curves/arcs, where the position-data-stream is increased. Referenced on a post of the MK2-Forum, I think that increasing the Baud-Rate to 1MBps may help.

I already found all informations to modify OctoPrint and the Printer-Firmware for higher BaudRates.
- How to add baudrates to OctoPrint, I found on this OctoPrint-Github-Issue
- The changes of the Prusa-FW I've found by myself, "analyzing" the Code of the official FW-Repo on Github (I'm also added a lot of other customizations within my FW, which are working fine)
But now, before taking the risk of fucking up my printer (due to potential connection-problems or something) I wanted to ask if someone has made some experience with a BaudRate-modification.

Thank you in advance.

Kind regards,
haum

RE: Any experience with Baud 1MBit/s

Heyho,

sorry for bringing that old thread up again, but due to nobody was replying and I tested out a little bit and so wanted to share my experience for others who may struggle with the same problem.

Originally I tried to increase the data-stream-throughput by increasing the Baudrate.
Basically I did the increase to 1MBit/s successfully, but unfortunetaly it carried out, that the stuttering problem doesn't disappeared and a lot of resends appeared. So it's not very recommended to go further than 250kBaud (which I'm currently running on). But I figured out, SD-Card printing is much faster and works more performant.

From an Octoprint-issue ( https://github.com/OctoPrint/OctoPrint/issues/3959#issuecomment-766393947 ) it seems to come from an Octoprint-dependency. Therefore I started to move my GCode-Files to the SD-Card, start them on the printer and use Octo only for observing what's going on.
That brought my prints back on track and I got back the typical quality as I know from earlier prints (with older Octoprint versions).

So the current bottle-neck is the upload to SD-Card, which is pretty slow for (partially) 40MB-files, because the upload needs about 40-50 minutes.

Kind regards,
haum
