Those usually look much worse than they are.

The one fan is the only item that may not be recoverable.

And, if you don't mind, I would like to add those photos to the 3d Print Blob Of Doom Gallery, which is on line here:

RE:

It looks like the small white cables have also come loose in that last photo. I've had a similar spaghetti incident on two of my printers and have not been able to figure out how to repair them. One printer gives me a MINTEMP error now as soon as I turn it on. All I've done so far is taken the two screws out for the front fan and the fan shroud so I can take a look at the damage. Looks like I've also got damaged white cables.

What do people do to fix spaghetti nightmares on Prusa printers? Looks like for $80 I can get all of the hotend parts assembled to replace everything in the hotend. Is that the best bet and will that come with good instructions on how to proceed? I'm unable to use the menu system at all with that MINTEMP issue so if the instructions say I need to superheat the nozzle to 280, I won't be able to do so unless I first fix the MINTEMP. But I'm sure the MINTEMP is due to the spaghetti nightmare so I'm in a bit of a pickle (catch 22).

These printers are driving me nuts. I own 7 of them and only 1 is working right now. Very frustrating. I wish I knew someone in the Tucson, AZ area who could help me out.

Search for 'blob of doom' to see how others have dealt with them.

Before doing anything, look at pictures of a clean extruder and note the position of the rather delicate wires that are currently hidden, if you damage them you will have to buy replacement parts as broken wires can't be rejoined.

You have probably damaged your fan shroud and will need a replacement.

Here is a tiny file that should get around the MINTEMP problem:   CAVEAT this is untested as I can't create the error but it does nothing but flip a software settng.

Copy and save these three lines of text; call it MINTEMPoff.gcode and 'print' it.

; Temporarily turn off thermal protection.

M310 S0

; Manually turn printer off and on again to restore.

To remove the blob:

Raise the nozzle temperature to the printing temperature for the filament in question and allow it to heat for several minutes.

If you are lucky you will be able to prise the blob open - more likely you will need to add heat from outside with a heat gun to aid the softening, sometimes it's worth using a soldering iron to carve chunks off the mass.

Use needle nosed pliers to prise this away; remove it in parts if it won't release the wires.

Once you have the worst removed you decide whether you need to disassemble the extruder to get at all the blob or perhaps you can clean up in situ.

After the cleanup there will be overcooked filament inside the nozzle so at least a purge and probably a cold-pull will be necessary.

Cheerio,

RE: Want to see an absolute nightmare?

Hi Diem,

I appreciate your reply. Due to the MINTEMP error, the menu system is completely unusable. The button does nothing so there's no chance of selecting the Print option to print that gcode as you suggested. Looks like my only option then is to buy the new hotend parts and replace them all as I've likely damaged the white wires. I'll also have to pick up a heat gun or soldering iron for the future. I've watched several videos and they all show using those tools to hopefully clean it up without damaging those wires next time!

What temperature do you see on the LCD screen?  If it's zero then your themistor or its wiring is broken.

If it's above zero but below 20 degrees then you might be able to gain control by gentle heating of the extruder with, say, a hairdryer or warm-air gun.

If you think the error may lie elsewhere then see:

https://help.prusa3d.com/article/einsy-rambo-electronics-wiring-mk3-mk3s-mk3s_2107

TEMPORARILY switch the two thermistor connections - the error might change to MINTEMP BED or you may gain temporary access to the menu.

If the above confirms the thermistor problem then clearing the blob with the tools mentioned will give you access to replace the thermistor.

Tucson?  Generally hot at this time of year I believe, you aren't working directly in line with an aircon outlet are you?

Look at: https://world.prusa3d.com/

There are about a hundred Prusa users in your area, try contacting some to see if they can offer practical help.

You probably only need a new thermistor - and possibly a fan shroud but you can print that.

Cheerio,

RE: Want to see an absolute nightmare?

Since I converted my MK3 to a Mosquito hotend those problems went away. They are caused by leaks between the nozzle and heartbreak.
