Strange 1st layer artefact?

what’s causing this? The very short little wiggle lines, it seems to be worse on some filaments than others. Sometimes it’s not there at all and prints a perfect 1st layer. Any ideas?

That’s a symptom of being very slightly too close to the build plate. It’s pushing the already extruded filament around. You sometimes have to tweak your live z value for different filaments. Just one of those things.

RE: Strange 1st layer artefact?

I had a similar issue recently...

Apart from the too low z, have you used the culprit filaments before or are you new to them?

I had a batch that came already quite moist and I had to dry it multiple times. It didn't do the quality any good and I assume that it became very uneven over time. This resulted in a wavy pattern as well. My culprit also became extremely brittle. Very nice looking calibration squares split along the lines after a few days.
