Re: Slic3r Prusa Edition 1.42.0-alpha2

is the purge block doing some new "happy dance" in alpha 2?

right before change it goes center block and dances abit. then changes

only has done it a few times. I will see if I notice any trend

I have a Prusa,therefore I research.

Guys, thanks for all the feedback! I will talk to the devs tomorrow and try answering your questions 😉

My answers so far:

I may have flipped an option to cause this but I am no longer seeing the time remaining on the LCD on prints sliced with Alpha 2 ...

Our devs sometimes temporarily turn off some features, if they need upgrades. Will check on this tomorrow, but in general remaining time should stay.

The time remaining works on my I3 Mk 3.

Re: Slic3r Prusa Edition 1.42.0-alpha2

The reversion to elapsed from remaining was only seen in things sliced the first time I launched alpha2 after a restart of alpha2 (which coincidentally entailed rebooting the computer) all files sliced since have provided time remaining... I expect it was something linked to first launch and other things running on my computer at the time....it might also be linked to a very long list of configuration files that I had loaded into alpha 1 and which were automatically linked to alpha2 when it was launched. I reported all of this to the GitHub page and then closed the item with this explanation as I think it is a very minor self repairing glitch not in need of any attention at this stage of development.

hi, i'm just starting to look into 1.42.0-alpha2 (windows version) and i noticed that any modifier and/or Support enforced/blocker im adding and trying to scale in Z ends up to get scaled in both Z directions and not to be on the bed any longer.

am i doing something wrong here?

Same thing is happening to me, and I thought I was doing something wrong too. 🙂

scaling by size seems to reset the values

Layer editing is yet known to be broken, it is mentioned in the alpha1 release log.

This is intentional. The modifiers are not kept on the print bed.

That should be fixed in alpha2

Can you make it work differently? Models are always printed on the bed. A vast majority of supports are going to touch the bed. Can you make it so whatever side I move is the only side that moves?

As it is, I shrink the top down, but the bottom moves off the bed. Then I have to move the smaller box back down to the bed and check to see if it is still too tall. If it is, I have to repeat the cycle until I can guess the proper size.

If I can move single side, then I can just shrink and grow it to exactly where I need it without much hassle.

I have a problem with the custom G-code. If I changed the custom G-code (example start g-code) and export the g-code. I have always the default g-code in my exported file and not what I changed.

Maybe a possibility is once a face is selected to the bed that face "magnetically" sticks to the bed unless a move operation pulls it far enough (hard enough) away from the bed? And maybe make the magnetism something that is an easily toggleable configuration?

My only concern is that I usually never select a face manually - the model appears in the position I want to print it in already. Of course, behind the scenes it could be automatically selected for me, no idea.

Still, if each face is simply moved independently, You can slide the left side over 10mm (for example) and the right side over 5mm, rather than moving them both 7.5mm and then having to move the entire object to the left 2.5mm.

But if I had my druthers, I would rather they copy the ability to manually add and remove supports from S3D. I know it must be insanely hard to do, else every slicer would have it and not just only them.

Yes, something odd begins to happen after slicing...

On the previous stable version of Slic3r (1.41), I could enter layer editing, set sections to higher or lower layer heights and toggle between 3d View and Preview, and the variable layer heigh indication is retained,

in alpha2 as soon as I move the mouse off the variable layer height indicator bar, the information dissapears....

regards Joan

Per the Alpha 1 release notes...

Smooth variable layer height editing is broken in this alpha, it will be fixed in beta.

Yeah, it was buried near the bottom of the release notes and I missed it the first time I read them.

Re: Slic3r Prusa Edition 1.42.0-alpha2

ok, I would like to be able to set this % like you guys do on the " soluble interface" BVOH layer setting. I didn't see the % change when I forgot to put the filament 5 to BVOH

it switches to 60% im sure on purpose. I that would help get allot of filaments working easy like they did for BVOH layer

I have a Prusa,therefore I research.
