Re: Simplify3D settings for MK3

Hi Just got my printer today, I have another printer that I print with PLA, so want my new Mk3 to print Pteg, has anybody got a good profile for Pteg for S3D, I have read through a lot of posts but most profiles are for PLA.

Hi Mick,
I personally had good results using the PETG profile in the pack from Chris Warkocki.
Linked earlier up in this thread. https://shop.prusa3d.com/forum/general-discussion-announcements-and-releases-f61/simplify3d-settings-for-mk3-t12950-s170.html#p79767

Re: Simplify3D settings for MK3

Unfortunately I'm also experiencing the "famous" inconsistent extrusion problems.
After a thousand tests, calibrations, etc. I'm printing the classic figures to see the quality of printing and I can't more correctly print the famous 3D Benchy(Specially in the bow section).
Strangely with PrusaControl even if with a lower quality than S3D; the model is printed correctly(....with visible inconsistent extrusion).
But initially, when i recived my MK3, i printed more 3dbenchy with various type and colour of pla without problem.
Can you link me a .fff profile or a pre-sliced model so I can take a test?
Thank you

[Sorry for my bad english]

my 1st experience with S3D !!! euh so far not really wonderful , better result with Slic3r , ok i like the visualization before printing but I tested using many different set up Chri's MK3 Jucytec original......but still !! prusa control or slic3r with Prusa PET parameter is ok for me ..!! less headache and not perfect but not too bad ...

Not really helpful for people who are looking for good S3D settings here.

Re: Simplify3D settings for MK3

S3D just released 4.1.0 on their website. It does not yet appear in the auto updater. Visit their forums to read what the changes are.

Re: Simplify3D settings for MK3

i have updated or installed s3d 4.1 and have never had good experience with s3d and supports.
i was wondering if anybody has a good config and settings that they would like to share.

i am using PLA and the supports are sticking and will not break away easily.

Also looking better bottom surface faces that are directly above the supports/bridging.
Any suggestions on the settings for that would be great.

Re: Simplify3D settings for MK3

I have been having more success with S3D supports since I started messing around with the resolution of the supports and using 5 to 10 transition layers at about 70% I think.

here is all FFF you can find in this post from Prusa himself and other , all condensed in 1 post 😉 , mostly for PET which is my biggest issue , i have a very good result with the SLic3r and Prusa parameter but still fight with the face below support not with support itself as shown on pics . S3D seems good and smart but need to learn more and test more !!

Re: Simplify3D settings for MK3

Is there any new profile for Simplify3d v4.1 expecially for the MK3 MMU2?
Unfortunately the purge tower does not work for me when using the default MK3 profile ... only one color will be used for the purge tower.
Any profile or tutorial for usage with MMU2 would be welcome.

Re: Simplify3D settings for MK3

great to see these S3D profiles for the mk3. I have good experiance with the default mk3 profile from S3D. I am alway wondering what the benefits are using other profiles. Does anybody know of a page explaining these benefits?

I know someone created a page comparing some of these profiles.

Re: Simplify3D settings for MK3

Hello,
I am checking to see if I am following the most optimized process for using S3D. It seems that for certain types of objects in factory files I do a lot of manual setup that I don't feel is correct. Either I am doing it wrong or I need to file a feature request.

I have been printing out planes and such from 3DLabPrint . These thin wall prints can only be sliced using S3D so I bought it and have been able to print many things successfully, but it seems like I do a lot of manual work. Here is what I do.

I have a profile for my Prusa Mk3 printer. I load up the factory files of the objects that are provided, and write down the settings for perimeters, layer heights, and start / stop printing heights.

I then select my printer profile, which of course loads all my G-code, and scripts, but overwrites all of the printing settings (Why it does this is beyond me, not like the number of perimeters in an object should depend on my printing profile but whatever) i then manually re-enter the settings like layers, number of perimeters, etc.

Is there a more optimized path to printing factory file objects?

Thanks in advance,
Mike

Write to support, they will send you a special profile for use with MMU 2.0.

Re: Simplify3D settings for MK3

Hi,

I would be interested to learn, why some people still favour S3D compared to Slic3r?

I purchased S3D some months ago, but quite frankly after the latest advances in Slice3r PE, I see very little point in using S3D anymore. I just find it ridiculous to have to manually edit config files with a text editor to unlock "hidden" features that should be at an arms reach…
But maybe I am missing something wonderful abo

Re: Simplify3D settings for MK3

I use S3D when I need supports. I find it better.

Also, with some PETG, I get less strining.
