Rough edges

Any idea what could be causing this? I've had the printer for about 3 months now. When I first got it, I feel like the sides of an object were much smoother than they are now. That could be perception, but if I look at my first benchy printed in Prusa Silver, it looks better than this. You will see in the picture below that they are a very rough. I got the printer assembled.

Any thoughts

?

Re: Rough edges

Could be a maintenance issue. I think I'd start by looking at belts & bearings. Depending on usage, 3 months may/may not be long enough to warrant some adjustment/tuning.

That's "MISTER Old Fart" to you!

Re: Rough edges

I assume that's PLA ..

If you've already tried a different filament and have the same results, try running at a lower speed on the cooling fan...the new "Dyson style"/R3 fan nozzle is really pretty effective. I know that most PLAs like a lot of cooling, but just for chuckles, try 75% instead of 100%. If it looks better, then try something a little lower.

Also, you might want to run the XYZ calibration and then check what the belt status numbers are and that they are within spec.

Re: Rough edges

thanks everyone. I tightened the belts, oiled the rods, and switched filaments. Things look much better. the belts and bearings helped, but it wasn't until I switched filament that I feel it went away completely. Oddly, it seems to be specific to that filament. Perhaps I need to try drying it out.

Re: Rough edges

Looks like overextruding to me.
I use a filament for which I have to set the extrusion multiplier to 0.91 (even lower than the Prusa setting of 0.95).
