Re: Original Prusa Drivers & Apps - 2.2.3

Are the new profiles (including the speed and quality profiles) going to be ported over to whatever repository the Slic3r 1.42 alpha checks? I got a profile update last night on my alpha5 install, but it was only SL1 profile updates.

Hi Christopher,
as soon as development of 1.42 is finished, the settings should be included as well. The new Quality and Speed profiles are here to stay 😉

Thank you for your response.

It would be nice to get the new permanent Quality and Speed profiles in the alpha sooner rather than later. Speaking as someone who regularly uses the alphas instead of the stable previous release. (I've gotten used to the new workflows, and the bugs aren't bad enough for me to be concerned. Especially since this is just a hobby, nothing I do on my printer is mission critical.)

I second that!

It would make sense to include the new profiles as early as possible in the alpha to have people test them.

Re: Original Prusa Drivers & Apps - 2.2.3

The drivers (prusa3d_win_2_2_3.exe) are NOT signed. I checked version 2.2.2 and drivers are signed.

Please verify the posted exe and correct it ASAP.

Re: Original Prusa Drivers & Apps - 2.2.3

Yes, lack of digital signature is the problem. DO NOT disable UAC to install this version. Grab version 2.2.2 instead from here:
http://prusa3dprinters.vshcdn.net/downloads/drivers/prusa3d_win_2_2_2.exe

(copy and paste the link

There is a slim chance that 2.2.3 has been altered by 3rd party without Prusa Research permission/knowledge.

In all likelihood it was just rushed and someone has skipped a step or posted a wrong file.

Monday is just around the corner. Let's hope someone from Prusa will this thread and correct the exe posted.

Re: Original Prusa Drivers & Apps - 2.2.3

An alternative to get this to install is to use powershell in the Administrator mode. Simply copy the poorly signed build of Slicer to an easy to get to location. Then open up powershell in Administrator mode (Best way to type in the Windows search and let it give you the indexed view). Then you will see a Blue DOS looking window. Simply navigate too the Slicer directory (EG: code d:\apps\slicer.exe) and then this gets around the issue and shoud install.

But in reality the first thing that should alway happen is the signing of the app should be solid. After all this is the first issue you will encounter as an end user on Windows 10 with a signed in account to the cloud.

Certificate was revoked. Re: Original Prusa Drivers & Apps - 2.2.3

The problem I'm getting with 2.2.3 is not that it's unsigned... it was signed by "Prusa Research s.r.o." on "‎Tuesday, ‎February ‎12, ‎2019 7:30:18 AM" but the certificate has been revoked by its certification authority, "StartCom Class 3 Object CA." Actually, the StartCom Certification Authority was revoked, apparently these were bad actors, doing things like issuing certs for github, so they were effectively shut down by browsers and OSes refusing to trust their CA roots. See article on Wikipedia.

Prusa, please get yourselves a code signing cert from a trustworthy CA!

This is being handled by Prusa and they should have a properly signed package available soon.

Great to hear; thanks for sharing that! (Ironic to encounter this problem on the 30th anniversary of the web, when many articles bemoaned how we can't all behave like the trusting academic types who designed it imagined people would.)
