Normal noise or does something need tightened?

Had my MK3S+ for a week and it is working great.  This printer is so much quieter than my others... but makes a bit of noise in some parts of prints.  Here is an example, almost sounds like a bushing noise or maybe vibrating plastics.  I have tried damping it out by holding the various gantry attachments but no help.  This is not a big deal and may in fact be normal.  Just trying to see if I can make it even quieter.

Sounds pretty normal to me.

Not too bad.

Try putting the printer on a different surface, even the floor temporarily; if the noise changes significantly you have a resonance problem, the printer and the furniture are interacting.  There are plenty of threads here about it.

Cheerio,

Yes, it's hard to believe what difference putting the printer on a paver stone and putting sorbothane feet (or a similar decoupler) under the paver makes.

I have it on a TV table. I know, not the best.  But it is only one particular head movement that makes the vibrating noise.  It is probably just the nature of the beast.  It is overall so much quieter than my others.

These videos are difficult to analyze for sound, and I assume that part of the issue is that when they are taken, they are miked closely, as in using the phone or camera built-in mike at the shooting distance.

Having said that, from what I hear in the video, I agree that it's all in the realm of normalcy.

When I've seen videos of malfunctioning printers, mechanical issues causing noise will typically result in said noise being painfully obvious.

I also seem to remember, some time ago, that there was some kind of a service which claimed to diagnose many 3d printer problems solely from the audio generated when printing a test print.  I haven't heard anything more about that for maybe two years or so.

Seriously the paver stone is necessary for the lack build.

I have a MK3+ kit on a massive table on a rubber desk pad on top of a dense partial board 3/4” thick. Was a fluke working perfect. The machine is creepy quiet. I’m about to put it in a case in a wardrobe and I’m concerned about ending vibrations. May not work near as well. I paint miniatures so I have scads of paint brushes in jars and air brush cups being mixed. The airbrush and printer filter share the same exhaust out the window. So far none of my stuff has vibrated a bit.

This is the 3rd MK3+ I’ve built and I’ve changed the nozzle to a mosquito and the gear drive is quiet as factory, no change. Really speeds up TPU.

Ive tried the printer direct on wood desk and there is noise transfer and my tiny brushes do dances in their pots. Seems the rubber pad is the ticket to cancel noise from vibration. Also I’ve never had a problem with the feet on all three machines I also attribute to the pad.

Probably for good reasons… 🤷

What people don't realize (initially) is that this hollowed-out cardboard crap is basically a giant resonator that amplifies every noise. But a paver and a PTFE conduit for the filament take care of most of it, and what's left is still crap but it does the job and costs much less than a commercial enclosure. My analogy is a cheap car versus a much more expensive truck. Both get from you A to B. There's certainly lots of use cases for trucks aka commercial enclosures (or you can write them off as a business business expense) but for most people the cheap car aka LACK will be sufficient.

Totally agree. The lack enclosure is cute.

The tents are okay.

I print from a dryer or dry box

my wardrobe build is getting its own climate control and fire grenade. Most of the professional cases I’ve seen suck. I don’t want my TPU or ASA inside the printer enclosure. So far I’m not liking the Prusa enclosure other than visibility. Despite my desk being massive I want it all back
