MK3S+ froze with hot end and bed active

Was in the last hour of my 12 hour print and the machine froze and kept the hot end and bed heat active.  PETG with 60% infill.

Are you printing from the SD card or via USB?  If USB, try printing via the SD card.

Also - it's always best to save the project file and zip it (use a common ZIP app) and post the zip here.

@tim-2

Printing from the Sd card for the moment.  Haven’t had time to hook up my pi and Octoprint.

For it to simply stop mid print is weird. Not unheard of, but right up there in rarity.  Is there any chance you had a power failure during the night?  I've had power failures that go totally unnoticed by my printer. The print stops. No recovery options. Just as if I had just turned the printer off mid-print and then back on. So I don't really trust the power fail and recovery mechanism as designed by Prusa. When it has worked, and a power fail was detected, I have NEVER successfully recovered from it. The prints are always total losses. That said, power fails are quite uncommon for me, so not a ton of experience with them.

If this is the first time you've seen this; I'd just continue on printing parts and log it as a fluke. If and when it happens a second time, consider it worth investigating.

@tim-2

This is my 5th or 6th print on the machine, so it’s brand new.  Definitely concerned with the stoppage.  I never leave prints run overnight, but I’ll occasionally let them run an hour or so without checking on it.  Which is what happened with this print.

I’m half way through reprinting and it’s doing fine.  So hopefully a fluke.

If you see it stop again, especially if at 90%. Consider the gcode or SD. Also wouldn't be the first time a MK3 had issues reading the SD.

Just experienced the same situation. My print was approximately 20 minutes from being complete and the printer froze in place with everything else seeming to be normal. Its been a bit but did you happen to experience this problem again? If so, did you discover the underlying problem? Thanks!

Never had this problem again, but right after this, I had switched to using Octoprint pretty much exclusively. Haven't had any stalls going through the pi. Rock solid since.
