MK3S Extruder (R5) SCAD Sources

Not sure if it's just me or what, but I can't seem to locate the scad sources for extruder body/cover parts for the MK3S in the Github repo (Link). I can see the STL and STEP Rev 5 model files that were uploaded last month (both stamped with R5), but no scad sources exist for any revision of the MK3S extruder. I did locate some older R3 extruder sources in the MK3 (non"S") branch (last updated last year)...

Anybody have any luck finding them? Prusa3D/Josef has always been really good to the opensource community so I'm a bit perplexed at my inability to find the extruder source files  🤣

My wild speculation: After taking a peek at the R5 Extruder design, the airflow channel seems to have a lot of filleting (rounding/"curvy").. Doing that in openscad really really sucks... So maybe they made the newer designs in another software that allows for CFD simulations? Hence no openscad sources for the R3+ designs?

They are using STEP files for new parts as they encountered limitations with openscad. I doubt you will find any SCAD files shy of re-making the design manually.

STEP files are essentially design sources as well and can be edited with (e.g. F360) to make new STLs.

Thanks @vintagepc, that actually makes quite a bit of sense..

Seems like everyone's jumping on the 'mouse-based CAD tools' train.. I've put up with OpenSCADs limitations solely because it's easy to model things with just the laptop keyboard. I guess its time to get used to using a trackpad in a CAD environment or carry a mouse around with me. XD

Yes, it's convenient for simple geometries and easily generated/parametric features. But I quickly moved on to the F360 free license when I realized I was spending time typing lines and lines of code to do something that takes about 3 mouse clicks and typing a number.
