Re: Firmware 3.7.0-RC1 for Original Prusa i3 MK3S & MK3

I installed this today and really like the results of the 7X7 mesh bed level! It moves pretty quick too, so it is not a big delay.

One thing I noticed is that when I go to unload filament after a print, it takes me to the preheat screen which I do not remember it doing before.

Was something changed that requires it to be in an active heating mode to load or unload filament?

Often at the end of a print or day, after the print finishes, the extruder is cooling but residual heat is still at a temp where I can unload the filament without heating. This lets me put my filament into moisture containment... Not a big deal, but I did notice it.

Good job on the changes! I appreciate them.

Yes. I have seen it too. Before that did not happen.
Pero creo que la calidad de la impresión ha mejorado. 🙂

Sorry for my poor English. I try to do my best.

What is real benefit (or loss) of changing the number of measurements (1 to 5 selectable)? I mean in real world - has anyone saw any difference in final product?

It's pretty early, and hard to tell. My understanding that this is the number of measurement it does for each point and then it averages out. I tried with 3 and with 5, I don't see any difference, the first layer is perfectly fine with both. I think I will put it back to 3, that was the sensible default.

Re: Firmware 3.7.0-RC1 for Original Prusa i3 MK3S & MK3

why is the new 7x7 mesh bed leveling probing so extremely close to left side compared to right side?
when probing left side nozzle is exactly on the left most side of the build plate but on the right hand side nozzle is about 5cm away from the rightmost edge (the one closes to the power supply)

also on left side there is a tendency for x axis bang into the left end stop

This is the reason :

https://github.com/PavelSindler/Prusa-Firmware/pull/1?fbclid=IwAR3Cvpi28gZm_AcZYfBPUzpX4XpxliYTLor12O1yhVYQxb8T6g58oJbF_qY

Note : Not the nozzle is probing, the PINDA is it. The probing dots are evenly distributed over the surface.

Finally, after a year "forced" to do a thousand calibration tests and to heavily use the correct bed level ..... Thanks to 7x7 MBL now I just have to set up Live Z ...... I can not believe 🙂
Of course, printing is not completely homogeneous on the whole plate, but for me it is a huge step forward.

Re: Firmware 3.7.0-RC1 for Original Prusa i3 MK3S & MK3

I have been using modified 7x7 mbl firmware for some months now as I could not get a good first layer with Prusa official firmwares, but even that required some adjustment to the bed level correction using the LCD.

This official firmware appears to have taken on board all the fixes in the modified firmware and then some, it now levels fast, evenly and I have not had to carry out any further correction.
I reset the printer to factory defaults to clear the memory and installed this firmware then carried out a complete from new calibration run on my MK3 and everything went through without a hitch, and all I had to do was set up Live-Z again.

I have yet to test if PINDA warming has any noticeable effect.

Thanks to everyone involved in getting this mbl issue resolved.

Normal people believe that if it ain’t broke, don’t fix it. Engineers believe that if it ain’t broke, it doesn’t have enough features yet.

Hi,
what are the pro's and con's of turning on/off magnet compensation ??????

Texy

I am also curious about this. Given all the magnets are in the same place on every MK3 and MK3S what cases would there be for choosing one over the other. It seems if on is best then it should be best for all MK3's. I understand having the ability to turn on or off for testing situations but what is the best practice setting?

FYI the error i keep getting directly after mesh bed leveling when it crashes into left side is:
Error:Excessive bed leveling correction: 2700 microns

restarting print fixes it without error.

there is also this:

Incredible result for the 7x7 Mesh bed levelling !
This is exactly what I was waiting for months !
My first layers are wonderful all over the surface for the first time !

Thank you Prusa, thanks community !

In the 3.6 version, the calibration menu is between settings and statistics as shown in the manual. Is it somewhere else for 3.7 because I am having trouble finding while trying calibrate my MMU2S for the first time.

Prusa, thanks for your dedication to continuous improvement of your products. I have owned the MK3 for 1 year and have enjoyed the journey through it's evolution. I appreciate all the improvements and especially the 7 x 7 leveling. Previously I needed to add correction values into the firmware and still had variance in first layer at certain locations on build plate. After leveling with the 7 x 7 my first layer is consisted over the entire build plate. Leveling is also quick. Thanks again and I look forward to even more enhancements.

Suggestion - I think our community could use a breakthrough in support material design in Slic3er PE. It's good now, but I think enhancements here could allow users more freedom in their designs without having to design around supports. If anyone can do it, Prusa can.
