Firmware 3.2.0 Released!

They just released 3.2.0 on the github page: https://github.com/prusa3d/Prusa-Firmware/releases

While downloading the zip file with all the source code, I released that the only *.hex file included in the zip is the one for the rambo 1.3. The Mk3 uses the Einsy. But when I installed 3.2 RC2 recently I only saw the rambo *.hex file in the zip file so that is what I installed. Would that cause any issues? (Time to update to the official 3.2 release and the hex file for the Einsy :-))

Re: Firmware 3.2.0 Released!

interesting, a few notworthy changes with respect to the RC2 which I suspect a lot of us are running currently:

Extruder current value changed (MK3 only):

Extruder current was slightly modified. It is trade off between too high current which cause high stepper temperature which results in deformation of some filaments and too low current which means that extruder stepper may skip some steps.

Others:

Initial instructions for manual temperature calibration and extruder linearity correction have been added to Prusa Firmware github wiki.

https://github.com/prusa3d/Prusa-Firmware/wiki/Extruder-linearity-correction-calibration

edit: total LOL at the instructions though

Linearity correction calibration procedure

Print calibration object, use filament Prusa-PLA silver, or similar.

Find place with best surface on the calibration object calculate correction factor.

Adjust Settings/E-correct to calculated value.

seriously?

waiting about a week to see what problems this causes.

The linearity correction description is very unclear. It tells you to print a test object, but there's nothing to download. Also tells you to do some calculation, but doesn't say what calculation...

I'll give them a pass for now, considering the release hasn't been officially announced and it does say its a draft.

Re: Firmware 3.2.0 Released!

I ran this "Extruder linearity correction calibration" gcode from github today. Ok, i didn't use Prusa's filament but my own PLA, i admit. But, anyway, printed tower is equal in all it's height - so, i don't really know what to look and how to determine correction factor (in fact it looks great over all it's height!).
Also my print took over an hour, while on github says that print time is around 20 mins. What did i do wrong? It must been something...?

Where to enter the E-Correction factor? I can not find anywhere it in my Slic3r 1.39.2.

It's either under "settings" or "calibration" on the printer, can't remember which and I'm at work so I can't verify.

Re: Firmware 3.2.0 Released!

ON printer: Settings: E-correct - turn on and enter number. I just entered 1.065, which supposely works best for most printers, says Prusa staff.

Re: Firmware 3.2.0 Released!

Doh, I thought it was somewhere in Slic3r. Makes much more sense now, thank you! 🙂

BTW, you are right, the PLA_MK3_ECOR_TOWER.gcode does print over an hour. Even http://gcode.ws gives that estimate. Is there a particular reason for it to be that slow?

Re: Firmware 3.2.0 Released!

Well, kinda makes sense because it prints only one layer thin walls, so it prints slow as layer must harden before new one is printed. But strange thing is that, as i said: i just don't see any difference...

Re: Firmware 3.2.0 Released!

Hi Everyone,
This is my first post 🙂
I have my MK3 for three weeks and I'm loving it!! Already printed 200.77 m.
I just flashed the firmware 3.2.0 and I now have a problem. Every time I try and connect to the MK3 with Octoprint (pi3) the printer crashes.
The MK3 just sits at the initialization screen until I reset it. Any thoughts?

Thanks
DanR

Re: Firmware 3.2.0 Released!

Please double check the file you used to flash the firmware. I believe using the mk2.5 hex on a mk3 will "succeed" but then cause it to hang on startup like you're describing.

Try flashing it again making sure you're flashing prusa3d_fw-3.2.0.555-1_75mm_MK3-EINSy10a-E3Dv6full.hex

Re: Firmware 3.2.0 Released!

Hi Guys,

Not sure about other ppl but after the latest firmware I can say that the printer is printing better than before.
Before I could not get any decent print out of Prusa control or Slic3r PE (only used Simplify3D) but after this update I have excellent prints with Prusa Control.
I personally recommend this firmware but on the other hand I might have just been lucky 🙂

Happy printing guys

What version on mk3 firmware and what version on slic3r did you have before?
