Emergency Power Down - what next?

I was running a print today, and remotely monitoring it when I noticed that the entire printer frame was being lifted off the table as the X axis moved to the left.  It's as though some object was lodged under the bed.  Not being there to figure out the issue, I remotely turned off the AC to the machine.

So here's the question: what should I do next when I get home?  Obviously, remove any obstruction that may exist, but when I power on the unit, is there anything I need to be concerned about?  Are there specific steps I should follow in such a situation?

Thanks in advance for any help you can provide.

RE: Emergency Power Down - what next?

Is there a reason you didn't cancel the print rather than power down?  Your cooling fan remains on until the nozzle is down to less than 40 degrees C.  You may have melted some of your parts near the hot end and possibly melted filament up into the heat break that doesn't normally get hot.  Take a good hard look at the print head and unload the filament, hopefully it'll come out ok and won't cause future blockages.

Cheers

Thanks for the response, Bob.  I'm new to this...it's my first printer and it's about 2 weeks old.  I setup a cam to monitor prints while I'm away from the house and the printer is powered through a smart AC outlet.  I set this up in case something went awry while I'm away during long prints.  I hope to get the system setup with Octoprint shortly, but this is all I have a the moment.

Thinking more about it, and what the system was doing, I think the filament somehow got snagged.  When the print head moved left and pulled on the filament, the entire printer was being lifted up. (The system is in a Lack enclosure, and the reels are mounted on top of the cabinet).

That being said, I hope I didn't melt anything.  I'm thinking (hoping) not...with full shutdown the system shouldn't increase in temperature, it just won't cool as rapidly.  Crossing my fingers.

So regarding my initial question...should I just power up the unit and follow on-screen instructions, or would you recommend some other procedure?

Thanks,
Dan

It should power up fine, the danger is mechanical damage.

This was the problem.  Everything back to normal after self tests and recalibration.

RE: Emergency Power Down - what next?

I noticed that using the default spool holder setup that the filament spool would swing and back up and recoil sometime. That coupled with the x and y axis repositioning would sometime allow the filament to go over the spool edge when nearly full.

I made a filament guide ( look at the prints section for several options) that forces the filament to unwind only near the spool center. I also put a fuzzy craft velvet (with a self adhesive tape on the back) on the spool holder shaft to increase friction and that eliminated the spool rocking back motion also.

Works well for me hope that helps you finding a solution for your issue.

Thanks for the tip, Richnormand.  Obviously, spooling improvements are tops on my print list right now.
