Distribution of part wear?

Is there a setting for positioning my prints randomly on the build plate? The PrusaSlicer always put the print in the center, this way the belts and build plate get worn predominantly on the "center". Is there a setting on the 3D printer or in prusaSlicer to put the print in a different position each time to distribute wear over the entire plate and belts?

Cheers,

Thomas

If you turn off “Auto-center parts” in the Preferences, then you can drag parts around the bed. I don't know of an automatic randomization option, though.

You don't even need to turn off auto center, once the part appears in the plater just grab the model and move it where you want it.  If you move it outside the build area it'll turn blue.  If I'm printing multiple parts I'll start with the auto-arrange feature and if I'm not happy I manually plat the parts.

Yes, I do both move parts around and auto arrange them 🙂 What I find is my printer fails (Spaghetti monster - no knocked over parts, I have good adhesion) when I place the part in the center of the build plate. I cleaned the extruder, cleaned and lubricated bearings and retightened the belts with no apparent improvement. But when I position my prints at the perimeter of the build plate I always get good prints. So I assume the belts are worn in the "Center" leading to bad prints. Having an eye longevity and a green mindset my thought is to distribute the wear full length/area on both belts and plate by automation of random/historic print positions.

Cheers,

Thomas
