Changed to 0.6 nozzle, not great results

MK3S+

I installed a 0.6 nozzle today after reading and watching a lot about how print speeds and model strength are improved, albeit at the expense of detail.

I performed a first layer calibration easily, and started printing a part that I print a lot of. And, while I did gain speed and lose detail in some pocketed text with increased layer height, my overall model quality is poor and very brittle. I went as far as to go back to the same settings I used for the 0.4 nozzle with no improvement, and I lost any speed I had gained.

I'm willing to accept that the larger nozzle and faster speed may not be suitable to my application, but I'd love to know if anyone has some thoughts about a setting I missed or a box I need to check before throwing in the towel and going back to the 0.4.

I am using the latest version of Prusa slicer.

thanks.

It is all in the choosing of the printer for me.

This might help. https://forum.prusa3d.com/forum/prusaslicer/which-adjustment-for-changing-nozzle-diameter/

Did you redo your first layer calibration?

Just to check all the boxes: you did rerun the wizard and installed a 0.6 mm printer profile? I use a 0.6 nozzle a lot for functional part but I haven't jumped on the "the 0.4 mm nozzle is dead" bandwagon that started when Sandelerer jumped the shark. The 0.6 is fine but not a replacement for the 0.4. But however you feel about it, "brittle" shouldn't be in the description of a 0.6 mm print and makes me feel that there's a configuration issue. You can also zip up your 3mf project file and post it, so we can check your settings.

I did another first layer calibration. Do I need to do a full calibration wizard when I change nozzles? The knowledge base didn't mention that, but I'm willing to try it.

No file attached!
You need to zip it, otherwise forum won't accept the file
