Bolts

Hi.

I bought my i3 mk3s pre-assembled.  However, a couple bolts were missing in assembly, and I had to use up all the spares they sent of that size.

Does anyone know a good source to buy these things online?  I was surprised to see that Prusa doesn't sell them. Seems like low hanging fruit... but either way, they are bit tough to find in the states, and I have made a couple purchases on Amazon that were not good at all. Cheap, the heads were too big or they were not smooth...   I've tried looking other places like Grainger and bold depot... but I have trouble finding them with short heads, stainless and smooth.

Anyone have a good source for these?

Thanks.

Have you tried McMaster? (I haven't, but they are my first go-to for hardware like this.)

I have found that this assortment ( https://www.amazon.com/VIGRUE-M2-M3-M4-1080PCS-Stainless-Screws-Socket/dp/B071KBVZVV/) works well. But if you need the M3 square nuts, be sure to buy "DIN 562" nuts, such as https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07G9TTZDB/ as "regular" square nuts won't fit in the slots Prusa has designed.

It doesn't hurt to have an assortment on hand.

Thank you.  I have looked... their catalog is pretty extensive, but doesn't say if the screw heads are smooth or not... I'll have to reach out to them.  Perhaps they could be my source..

That was the first thing I tried.  They told me they do not sell them.  I wasn't about to ask them to send me 2 bolts from Prague to the US to replace the missing ones... It seems like an easy mark to just sell the spare bags (at the very least) in the store.  I'm not sure why they do not do this.

Thanks, but just to clarify:  you have personally purchased these and found them to work?  I've tried a few from Amazon, and like I said, the results were disappointing.  The construction was cheap, the heads were not the right size and they had a texture on them instead of being smooth... If you are telling me that you have personally bought these, they are of decent quality and they work flawlessly with the Prusa, I'd buy them.  but if it is just something you searched and have no personal experience with, I'd rather not take another chance...

I too spoke with support about buying the prepacked pack of "extras" as I was also getting some other parts - Same response (no).  For those of us in Oz, I found these on E-Bay:

https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/442pcs-M3-Stainless-Steel-Hex-Socket-Cap-Button-Head-Screws-Allen-bolt-Nut/173605234033

https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/50-x-M3-Stainless-Steel-Square-Thin-Nuts-DIN-562-3D-Printer-parts/113555182938

They are yet to arrive however.

RE: Bolts

Sorry for adding a "me too" response but I also wanted to confirm that I took @holmes4 advice and bought those two products on Amazon and am having good luck with them.  The only thing I've noticed is that the M3 bolts are missing the 25mm version, so I just took a bolt cutter and snipped off the end of the M3x30's to get 25's.  I'm so grateful this community exists as well as this specific post, saved me a *lot* of time trying to track down Prusa-compatible hardware.
