Re: 9 days without commit on GitHub - I feel something big is acoming

Good news, the inconsistent extrusion issue causing really poor print surface quality on the MK2.5/3 compared to the MK2/2s seems to be due to firmware. I’ve been running tests with some who has all mk2 and mk3 variants running tests to confirm whether the issue is due to software, hardware or some combination of both. So far our tests seems to point to it being a firmware issue alone rather than hardware such as the new Einsy Rambo on the mk3. I will create a new thread covering what we’ve found tomorrow. A renewed sense of hope that the mk2.5/3 print quality can be resolved.

Lots of commits, but not seeing much regarding the extrusion issues. This looks like part of stahlfabrik's solution to preheat the pinda is getting implemented. Thanks stahlfabrik! 🙂

Thank you guys!

O and thanks as well for Prusa staff for listening to feedback. This is a perfect example of open source. Kudos to both parties.

Looks like the new firmware will be dropping soon, 3.2.0 is now has RC1 Status...

https://github.com/prusa3d/Prusa-Firmware/releases/tag/v3.2.0-RC1

MK3:

linear advance
new xyz calibration
filament sensor function improved
safety timer
gcodes for setting temperature correction
extruder linearity correction
stealth mode for Z axis

No detailed info on this one: extruder linearity correction.

I'm curious if this addresses the inconsistent extrusion that has been such a hot topic.

They have not implemented my proposed sign switch in that math operation for bed leveling.
Yet.
I understand that it might not be adequate for every MK3.
I still do not know if one could use negative ustep values without any more modifications in stock firmware (usteps are intepreted unsigned in many places in firmware).

But well, we know now how to compile a custom firmware. 🙂

I wonder if it is clear to you guys how to manually do the perfect print based temperature calibration now with the new gcodes? I also wonder if Prusa will offer descriptions for ALL new features in more detail

No. Linearity correction will only fix the consistent moire pattern.

EVERYTHING is here: https://shop.prusa3d.com/forum/hardware-firmware-and-software-help-f64/1st-layer-problems-in-depth-look-at-software-pinda-t14815.html

Please read especially the first post and I think I tried to make it more clear in a later post in the thread too. Please ask concrete questions on what stays unclear. I might take the time to write a condensed guide then. I am happy to help

Re: 9 days without commit on GitHub - I feel something big is acoming

Just downloaded from the github 3.2.0-rc. Factory reset > All data. Redid setup from scratch.

I haven't been able to print reliable PET at all on either of my mk3's lately (1 prebuilt or 1 upgraded from mk2s to mk3). 1st layers sucked with PET but perfect for PLA. But whats even stranger is I printed the parts to upgrade my mk2s to mk3 in PET on the prebuilt mk3. So it worked b4 but just not recently - Pulls hair. So I'm hoping I can print PET now. Then I can print R2/B6 parts for the prebuilt mk3. (yes I tried de-hydrating the PET at 1 point to troubleshoot)

Can anyone offer advice on using:
M860 - Wait for PINDA thermistor to reach target temperature.
M861 - Set / Read PINDA temperature compensation offsets

like a procedure to follow?

update
disregard the ask 4 procedure - flawless bed leveling print with PLA but also PET, this firmware. With prebuilt mk3. happy happy joy joy
gonna do upgraded to mk3 now

Prusa MK3 preassembled (R2/B6) > (R3/B/7)

What works best for me... Clean with warm soapy water, I use dawn not that it really matters, and soft scrub scotch brite type kitchen sponge. Don't scrub real hard with the scotch brite, mild pressure at most, then scrub the snot out of it with the non abrasive sponge side. Dry, put on bed and set bed temp to 100C for around 10 minutes.

Hopefully that helps...

thanks for responding. I thought it was an adhesion issue at 1st too. I tried too "rejuvenate" my "new" pei sheets. No luck. I really think it was this issue:

It's a cheap and easy try... I was having ton's of trouble with PETG then PLA. Acetone helped a little then I read about someone else using dish soap and thought what the heck... The high bed temperature helped remove what I thought was scarring, I had outlines of previous prints on the PEI that would transfer to new prints, high heat and a bit of paper towel action helped immensely. I saw Joan.t(?) make a post stating that Prusa recommends coffee filters vs paper towels for mild abrasion, I may go that route next big clean.
