X axis length error when nothing seems to be wrong

I just switched out the fs-lever part for a new one and when I reassembled it I ran the wizard calibration. When it get to checking the X axis it just gives up and doesn't move. It will move by hand and with the move axis feature but for some reason doesn't want to budge when the calibration wizard tells it to.

I've tried the suggestions from similar posts and nothing seems to work. The printer ran fine before and now doesn't so it must be something I did reassembling it.

The only thing that I can see that could be wrong is the firmware so try reflashing the latest firmware to make sure that nothing is wrong with the firmware that is currently installed.

Loosen the extruder housing screws near the bearings a half or full turn - these have been known to crush the bearings and cause motion problems.

Run a self test, check friction number shown for BELT STATUS.  Anything lower than 260 would cause me concern something is too tight (not belts though).

Try the tilt test: power off and lift the printer and let the extruder slide under gravity side to side: it should move stop to stop.

Complete lack of x movement during self-test sounds awfully like left over, bad,  EEPROM data post transition from 3.7x to 3.8.x. firmware. I suggest factory reset WITH DATA ERASE.

@guy-k2

Thanks, that completely solved it! I had to factory rest it before the firmware flash would work.

I'm having the same issue.  I finished putting it together and when I calibrate it it moves all the way to the left and not quite all the way to the right before giving me the same error.  What should I take apart first?

Usually cable ties ends on the extruder rat tail weren't placed where the assembly manual recommends.  Check the ends, make sure they are placed and rotated per the manual.  Also, make sure the fan cables and wires on the sides of the extruder are where they belong, and fan screws are tight, no extra fan shrouds, etc.
