X-axis dont move smooth on z-axis

Hello,

When I try to make the XYZ calibration, and even before, on first calibration, the x-axis dont move smooth on the z-axis. It rumble and goes down or up with saccades, especially on the left side. So, I cant achieve the xyz calibration because the x-axis doesnt achieve to go to the top. What can I check to fix this?

Check that the little conical piece you had to thread all the way down the rod is NOT against the motor. It should be spaced a little bit away from it or you can get this.

With the printer off can you manually turn the Z motors to move the X axis up and down? Make sure to move both together evenly.

If your dust caps aren't causing the jams then your black trapezoidal nuts (black ones which sit on the X carriage and around the motor rods) might be bad. I thought I had a similar issue as I failed calibration constantly, turned out to be a faulty PSU.

To test my X carriage I supported the X carriage with two boxes either size of the extuder (don't put any weight on the nozzle) and undid the two M3 screws on each side of the carriage freeing it from the Trapezoidal nuts. Then I spun them all the way to the top. When they're out of the way lift the carriage up and down and test you're moving smoothly on the smoothing rods alone.

Then rest the carriage back on the supports. Freely spin the nuts down and they should move about 5CM on their own spin if they get stuck you might have bad nuts.

Support live chat sent me some replacements before I found my PSU was knackered.

I think this is the reason. One of the nuts remain almost stuck, the other goes spinning down. I should order a replacement nut.
