What Is Wetting My Bed?

Hi everybody,

Alright so I just got my printer up and running. I have done a few prints. I noticed after every print there are these dots all over my print bed that looks like it's been sprayed slightly then evaporated. Has any one else encountered this?

I wipe down the bed thoroughly in between each print with 99% isopropyl alcohol.

I didn't care at first but I also recently started having issues with slight warping/ things getting knocked off the bed so now I am questioning it. I don't think that is related (but maybe it is?). (I've got cold drafts in my room, building an enclosure now).

Mk3s+ kit.

PLA.

Standard PLA settings.

Theories, ideas, or call for concern?

Thanks

Could this be the shipping fluid, that Misumi admit to putting in Most of their bearings...
there is a lot of difference of opinion over lubrication of the bearings

contrary to the assembly manual, Misumi advise that the bearings should be washed in IPA, and lubed with suitable Lithium grease...

there have been a number of reports of oil contamination, on the build plates.

I Would suggest that you consider washing the build plate with hot water and dish soap, then rinse with hot water, and dry immediately

then I suggest that you wipe the rods off with IPA and a cloth, to get as much oil off them as possible, then I suggest that you lubricate the bearings with grease as Prusa recommend

You might be wise to grease your rods too!

I will be getting my MK3 next week, and was just going to wipe the bearings down with a lint free cloth inside and out, then superlube (400g should be just about enough 😁) My initial opinion was soaking is a step too far, however after seeing this I think I will certainly soak the bearings in IPA, then a good dry off and finally a good layer if superlube.

Have installed hundreds of bearings in my career, and never saw so much fluid come out of any, must be specific to Misumi.

That is an awful mess, and certainly that amount of oil flying around a 3d printer is not really what you want.

I wonder if Prusa could ammend the build manual to include soaking in IPA then greasing the bearings and rods.

Thanks for the info, very helpful.

Alright folks, I'm back. So I went back and wiped off the rods with IPA and then put some super lube on the rods. And after running it yesterday for 10hrs no drops!

Thanks Joan for the advice. I think you were spot on!
