try to print using Simplify3d software

Hi

I try my new MK3s printer and  I pass the calibration phase . because I  got  used to S3D  with my other printer I try to use it also my   new machine . Installed  a profile   that i download from " https://prusa3d.dozuki.com/Guide/How+to+import+profiles+to+Simplify3D+4.x+(Windows+&+macOS)/1423?lang=en&permalink=1 " and give it a try . the result was a little surprise because the part  was printer shorter in  X   then the part printed in other   printer . I use the  PLA 0.1 -Detail profile  because the part is  small . Any idea ?

regards Doron

RE: try to print using Simplify3d software

I have just compared prints from S3D and Prusa Slicer and I don't see any dimensional difference. my model long axis was along the X axis, my model narrow axis was along the Y axis, and the intermediate axis was Z!

Simplify 3D profiles often embed some machine parameters in the start gcode. Open a S3D generated gcode file in a text editor and look for a series of M20X lines near the top. Compare these to the values entered in Machine settings in PrusaSlicer.

Maybe i did  not  describe the problem clearly  , the part i design  using OpenScad software  . print it  in my old printer  using S3D    and then printed it using   the MK3  printer with  both S3d  and  Pronterface   and the part was shorter in X both cases . Any idea ?

@sonra

are you saying the when designed the part was say 100mm long, but both Prusa slicer and S3D print it at say 99mm long?

can you save the Prusa Slicer version, as a project file (.3mf) then zip compress the file and attach the compressed zip file to the next post?

I think what @sonra is saying is that the part was sliced in S3D, and the gcode printed to the Mk3 via Pronterface, and the result is 99mm versus the same printed to another printer at 100mm. My suggestion to compare the M20x hardware settings stands.

RE: try to print using Simplify3d software

Hi Sonra

when I sliced and printed your file, it came out almost exactly 34mm
Note the frame is supported in mid air, in the picture so there must be a little clamping effect. in reality this is probably 33.99mm +- tollerance on the vernier calliper...

if yous a lot different?

the dimensions in Prusa Slicer are coming out at 34 x29 x 3mm

@sonra

Small screw, big cause. I would also take the opportunity to check the other pulleys and the belt tensions. There is a small and simple tool for calibrating the belt tension: https://www.prusaprinters.org/prints/46639-tension-meter-for-the-gt2-belts-of-i3-mk3s-or-prus

happy printing!
