Super Newbie with PETG

Question is. just got my new MK3s+ been printing great with PLA . went and bought some PETG from MatterHackers. 

Ran first layer 240/72  rest layer's 236/74.  Ran a test cube perfect.  Started a print went good up until midways and started stringing 

not sticking.   Need help on that. But wait there's more.  Now I cant get filament to come out my brand new "Nozzle X" nozzle.  when

I started a new a new job. It was like the gears are slipping on the filament and not pushing it thru.

HELP PLEASE . Thanks

cold pull

Heat it up to the highest temp for the Matterhackers PETG.  If you do not have extrusion, you have a jam and need to do a cold pull.

For the Nozzle X, I found I need to add about 5 degrees to the usual temperature. 

Once unclogged, I would also run a temperature tower to see what gives you the best results, eg https://www.prusaprinters.org/prints/39810-improved-all-in-one-temperature-and-bridging-tower

Just one more point: I don't think that varying temperatures by 2 degrees (from 72 to 74 degrees) has any impact whatsoever. The filament temp change by 4 degrees may but I doubt it. You might as well stick with the first layer temperatures.

Check for filament moisture

PETG is very hygroscopic. It can absorb moisture from the air quickly. Given the weird weather in many parts of the country right now, it's possible your filament has become saturated with moisture. This will lead to stringing and poor finish. Try another spool or dry your PETG spool if possible. Any time things suddenly go from good to bad without changing any settings, always check your filament.

That sounds like a typical partial clog. Just follow the procedure @cwbullet pointed you to clear the hotend and nozzle of any crud. Check to make sure you don't have any filament broken off below the extruder gears.

I hope not; it's nowhere near as easy to use for gears, bearings and screws...

I prefer PETG.  Simply put, many of my projects are not appropriate fro PLA.  PLA warps and melts under many of the conditions my products as exposed to.

I prefer PETG. Simply put, many of my projects are not appropriate fro PLA. PLA warps and melts under many of the conditions my products as exposed to.

Whereas PETG binds and jams in many of mine...

I print a lot of PETG, especially for use in situations where it will be subjected to vibration, mid level heat and harsh chemicals... but for low stress mechanisms and rigidity PLA is superior, specially for prototyping.  Sometimes the final product will be made in some other material such as stainless steel but PLA is more durable than many people credit.

Heat it to the maximum temperature possible for the Matterhackers PETG. If you don't have extrusion, you're stuck and must do a cold pull.

What I meant here, tongue in cheek, and that was not my original quote, is that PETg is becoming a basic go-to filament type for various simple projects, where a few years ago it would always have been PLA.

I do agree, however, that for things like gears, PLA generally gives better results.

And, I've done several cold pulls over time, but I've been able to fix occasional no-flow and slow-flow issues by heating the nozzle way up, like 275C or so, letting it sit for 20-30 minutes or so, and if necessary using an acupuncture needle to 'rod out' the hot end.  As was said, if there's a broken piece of solid filament impacted above the heat break, it may need some disassembly to totally clear it.
